I was at a friends house once and he had a fly flying in his kitchen, I grabbed the fly swatter and was waiting for it to land when it just died mid flight and fell onto his counter. It was an awesome moment in my life.

No no no. You clap them from the sides, since flies never fly directly up (it's not possible for them, they always take off at an angle) So if you cover 2 our of the 4 directions they can fly, you've got a 50% chance of getting them
