Replying to Gore-Tex question
I'm upgrading my shell to a Gore-Tex hard shell.
I'm looking at Arc'Teryx jackets, Orage JP Pro, and the Montbell Torrent Flier. I'm looking at some Norrona gear too, but at the same prices as Arc'Teryx with only a 5 year warranty I'm feeling Arc will be the better investment. From what I've gathered so far there isn't really any significant H20 proof-ness loss from the pro shell down to the paclite. But my main concern is durability. Would something like the Montbell be way more bang for my buck? Or does paclite not last as long? I layer with REI fleece, typical mid weight tops, and Montbell Thermowrap Pro (just ordered. :) )
Basically any experience with the various Gore-Tex fabrics will be greatly appreciated.
I'm outdoors a lot and wear my stuff frequently in many kinds of weather. I'm starting to get ava certified and will be spending significantly more amount of time in the backcountry since I'll be in Idaho soon.
