Functionality of the new Powder Skis???

Is there any possibility of all the new powder skis functioning in the park at all, or anywhere else other than powder. When I say this I mean models like the MaidenK's, the big Volkls, the Mothership and so on. Or is it hopeless in buying these if you are going to ski groom and park some days and powder on other days?

depends on your skill level. if you've been skiing for a while, you can probably get comfortable on any pair of skis out there.

Well, the moships should do reasonably well. Andy Mahre loves the Made'ns in park, apparently, but that's Andy. There are still the pistols and scratch BC, anyways... you have options.

yeah, pistols, moships, BCs, and pocket rockets are all great on piste and in the park. they will weight more, but they are more stable than skinner skis.
in science class i sat down to fast and you know how you can sit on your balls. well i did and i sat down really fast and crushed them and right when i sat down i started puking and fell out of my chair. they teacher laughed. i felt like i could pass out i wanted to die.-*NWFT*nUkkA

Abma rocked MADE'NS in the park lots this year. Wilson rocked the MOSHIP flites. So it shouldnt be a problem if your up for the challenge when you hit an iciy patch

get madens. only ride them. no other skis. then you will get like 200 times better. i promise. but you must not say the skis dont allow you to do something. its all very possible

um i think the maedns are a bit to wid for my park tases, when i can barely upt my hand across them to grab a hold of them, for some reason i dont think that that would be a very good ski for the park, but hey what ever floats your boat, but for me, pistols are as wide as i go.

i hate it when people say that they dont wanna wreck their skis on rails, its part of newschool skiing. especially powder skis, its not like you need an edge in powder

Framptizzle your a tard. I'm sure as hell not going to pay 700+ dollars for skis then fuck em up right off the bat on rails. That's so fucking retarded. Why only get one season or less out of your skis just because you wanna hit rails. And rails aren't going to be a part of newschool skiing for that long just check the quote Anthony knows. As for not needing edges for pow, obviously park and powder aren't the only two things people ski. Some of us actually get out and ski the whole mountain and for that it's nice to have some solid edges.
I think rails in general are just a phase. - Anthony Boronowski

yeah, framptizzle, since nobody ever turns on the edges or ever has to ski on groomed. Why do we even have edges

yo telestar, i would buy $700 skis and the minute i get them home i would get icerink snow and hit my backyard rails up with my $700 skis. its not big deal, skis are meant to be used.
I expect that i'm going to have to get new skis every year...ya know.

honestly, there are a lot of pros out there rocking skis like the made'n AKs or the MoShips for park skis, which proves the fact that they are capable in the park. but you also have to remember the fact that these pros are still PROS and they do get various pairs of skis to ride all different conditions. you COULD ride park on something like the made'n AKs, like Andy, but you would have to centre mount them, which effectively kills them as an all mtn ski. if you are looking for a pair of sticks to ride park and all mtn with, i honestly would tell you to stray away from skis like the moships or the made'n AKs and look more at skis like the karmas or any other midfat. but if you do have a pair of all mtn sticks, or already have a pair of park sticks, the made'n AKs are not a bad choice. i personally am gonna ride the made'n AKs in the park this year, but i also have other skis to ride other parts of the mtn. its all a personal preference. if you're a pure park skiier, i would say go for it. but if you wanna use these and your 'do everything' sticks, then i would prolly steer you away from the really huge sticks.

and since i just looked at your profile and you seem to have a lot of park and all mtn sticks (1080s, pilots, fujs), buying the Made'n AKs isn't a bad choice for ya

Framptizzle, this is why many of us have less expensive skis for park... we can fuck them up with no adverse effects on our all-mtn skiing. If you're going to spend 700$ on pow skis (which is retarded, I don't know why anyone would pay that much for skis), why not spend 600 and get some secondhand beaters for the park? There were MNPs with bindings for 75 bucks on here a couple weeks ago...

'then you would have to center mount them, which effectivly kills it as an all-mountain ski.' Odd Job, what the fuck are you talking about man? I ski a Made'n AK almost center mounted and it is great...everywhere. Morrison even has been center-mounting Pistols for everywhere use and loving it. You spoked on something you have never tried and I am calling you out on it. To the original question, fat skis are perfectly applicable all over the mountain, including park and pipe. And for having trouble grinding on wide skis? What is that? It is even easier, like two snowboards underfoot. Crazy stability. Try it and you'll see.

ummm i'm not a pro and i'm only ridding motherships this year, i mean its no 108mm (just 97mm) but i think the use of a bigger stick will just help improve my skiing, not hinder. just man up thats all there is to it.

^I don't know about you, but personally, I don't think I'll be 'progressing the sport' much, myself. I kinda doubt anyone cares what I do on the mountain... so, with that in mind, I'll try to keep my skis in as good shape as possible for as long as I can, thanks.

First of all, never pay full price for skiis. Second, stand on top of Jackson Hole, and stare down Corbet's, or Montana's Big Couloir (if you make it there)
Make better your big mountain skills, fuck rails, you gotta prioritize, and then never ski on less than 90's, get Karmas
