I am sure anyone with a vimeo account saw this and watched it today...but if not...pretty exciting stuff.

IMO, first camera to be seen that can compete and/or exceed with Alexa or RED footage. keep in mind this was a pre-production model as well...

exciting stuff.

only real limitation that I have seen tech stats wise is in higher frame rates vs RED etc

Simply incredible! This is significantly more crisp than the VAST majority of RED content that I have seen. I've been very impressed with the direction Sony has taken over the past few years. Beginning with the fs100, the company seems to deliver consistently better products, rather than the relatively stagnant DSLR market (although they are definitely different tiers of equipment and production). Still, I agree that this can definitely give all REDs and even the Alexa a run for their money moving forward.

Yeah it's impressive looking footage, but also keep in mind that at $35,000, it's $16,000 more than the epic-x and $11,000 more than the epic-m. Both the red and sony are modular so you have to buy additional components for each camera system in order to start shooting. It will be interesting to see more footage from the f55 and see how it compares to the alexa.
