May have to quit skiing because rockered park skis dont make sense

title says it. i wanna get new skis for christmas, but unfortunately EVERY ski i look at has some sort of rocker. i dont want rocker in my park skis, rocker should be for powder only.

please help me find a pair of 180 + cm park skis that have ZERO rocker. i like regular camber please and thank you. also, i like something wider than 90 and this is where the problem comes in because apparently anything more than 90 underfoot means its an "all-mountain" ski and therefore requires "all mtn rocker" or "all terrain rocker" or "everyone else has rocker so our company is doing it too rocker"

am i taking crazy pills or is anybody else on my side on this issue?

Read this thread. Do some research. I'm not here to take you by the hand, nor do I feel compelled to go out of my way to prove anything to you. The evidence for rocker's advantages are there, I'm embarrassed for you that you're arguing this.

I read the thread, it's you making claims with no proof followed by you masking your lack of legitimate information with taunts and insults.

No where in this thread have I stated that rockered skis don't have some advantages over cambered skis. I simply stated that rocker will not replace camber in the same way that shaped skis replaced straight skis.

Do rockered skis hold an advantage over cambered skis in certain aspects of skiing? yes

Are rockered skis ever going to to render cambered skis obsolete? no

The jump from straight skis to shaped skis is a much bigger movement then the camber to rocker bandwagon movement.

So what are you arguing? You've consented to my point. There is a functional and not just preferencial aspect to the difference between traditional camber and rocker. I never said anything about the technological shift being greater than from straight to cambered. Or that rocker would render camber obsolete. That's a straw-man argument and has nothing to do with any of my posts.

Here, since you've insisted on remaining willfully uneducated on the topic this whole thread, let prestigious and well-respected ski authority Volkl explain it to you like you're five.

get the arv's or t halls. i rode rockered pow skis last year and i hated them. i could see how park rocker could help with 27's on to down rails or sw ups but i feel like there is no tip edge or stability for jumps. i feel like i can set my spins way better when i have that full tip. and also the diving in pow is my jam on steep and deep. i feel like im on shitty snowblades with rockered skis.

i ride arv's right now and love em. rode a pair of t halls for 4 years loved em.

whats a compareable ski that weighs less? i always like riding light skis, i had a pair of fugitaves back in the day and really enjoied skiing on those. they were light and still had some pop and lots of buttering.  i switched to thalls and they were about the same.

i know how you feel. for years i have been buying the same board again at the start of each season, its just a normal fucking snowboard. it has camber and sidecut and is made of wood.

having a rockered ski on the east coast is pretty dum. Especially with all the ice camber is going to be 10x more effective for the most part. If you have a few pairs of skis nothing wrong with some nice pow planks but for the kid who goes 10 times a year nad has one pair of skis ...dont get it. AGree with OP still riding cambered skis and love them #teamcamber

there is still soooo many cambered snowboards companies are making.
Im not sure how it is with skis though, you guys are making it seem like all skis have rocker, theres gotta be some that still have camber.

I think rocker has its place in the powder world, but when it comes to carving and maintaining total edge contact and thus stability, camber can't be beat. It totally depends on what you want to get out of the ski and your preferred style.
