May have to quit skiing because rockered park skis dont make sense

title says it. i wanna get new skis for christmas, but unfortunately EVERY ski i look at has some sort of rocker. i dont want rocker in my park skis, rocker should be for powder only.

please help me find a pair of 180 + cm park skis that have ZERO rocker. i like regular camber please and thank you. also, i like something wider than 90 and this is where the problem comes in because apparently anything more than 90 underfoot means its an "all-mountain" ski and therefore requires "all mtn rocker" or "all terrain rocker" or "everyone else has rocker so our company is doing it too rocker"

am i taking crazy pills or is anybody else on my side on this issue?

grudge really isn't the right word here. He simply just doesn't like rockered park skis and neither do I. It makes zero sense to me to have my edges not touching the snow when all i'll be riding is park/groomers. It may make my skis ski shorter, but I don't want that, I wanna be able to dig in every bit of edge I have when I'm carving switch down a groomer. It's all preference, some people like rockered park skis and I can respect that, I just really hope they still continue to make traditional camber park skis

Yeah I agree, fair enough if you don't like them and have actually had experience riding them, but my Alpha 1s are some of the most fun skis I've ever riden in the park and on groomers, and I've never once had a problem with holding an edge - if anything I think they held a better edge than my previous AR6s. I might be totally wrong in saying this, but if you really have that much trouble skiing with them, it sounds like you're probably a park rat with a pretty poor all round ability.

When you're properly carving, rocker actually digs in the snow the same way a normal camber would. All rocker does on the groomers is making your ski more playful and your turn initiation easier.
My Line Sir Francis Beacons carve 10 times better on groomers than my Stepups. Enough said.

have 2 park skis. 1 stiff normal cambered for jumps, groomers, and the occasional rail. 1 rockered and softer for rail specifics

ill believe that the day when world cup racers start using rockered skis during races. carving is most efficiently done with regular camber skis and that is an irrefutable fact. if what you say is true than every racer would be using rockered skis to get a better edge, however, they DONT and therefore you can suck a boner.

Dynastar, Nordica and Rossignol HAVE rocker in their 2012-13 race skis. Rocker is better, you people obviously don't know what you are talking about and should learn how to properly carve a ski.

Some companies can do rocker right. Demoed iorn maidens and they rode like absolute shit. Demoed volkl bridge and they were fucking awesome. I get the whole camber thing, I feel like I can adjust my turning while on edge and you just don't get that pop you get on camberd skis. Keep a open mind and try some different rocker profiles from different companies.

look at how the 4frnt hojis are made, the rocker profile matches the side cut. Think about the shape of a ski in a carve, and how the shovel wouldnt be used when carving with a cambered ski, where as the with a rockered ski you can use a good amount more of it once you are on edge since it is a more gradual shape which would allow for more contact.

burying the tips? you mean tip dive? that's not desirable if you're skiing anything other than a flat open pow field. If you're tips dive you're going to go over the handlebars if you drop anything. I don't see how that's what pow skiing is "all about"

Great, the profile might match the side cut but you still have to lay the ski over on edge further to initiate solid contact with the snow.

Go with a mustache rocker (rocker tip/tail with camber underfoot). I was just like you till I tried them. Carve better than any ski i've ever been on, never catch edges, turn way faster and they rip the bumps. Seriously demo them in any condition and you will love them. I ride the Moment Vice btw.
