Replying to Who killed punk? I'm gonna go with Green Day
Don't get me wrong, Green Day is a pretty cool band, but their just too poppy. I mean, Green Day is the band that pretty much got me into punk, but their also the band that opened all those doors for bands like NFG, and Blink 182. If they hadn't fused so much pop, and hadn't revealed the fact that if you say your punk, the general public will think you are, because the general public doesn't know any better. Runners up for this are Nirvana (come on, I know your sick of hearing about how they changed music forever....well, they did, but for the worst) and the Ramones. Yeah, I know, how can I be blaming the creators of punk for it's downfall, well, here it is: the Ramones were tired of stadium rock and wanted to get back to 50's bubblegum pop, so they formed and started writing songs that sounded like that. Of course, what struck everyone was their speed, and their attitude. I'm gonna stop myself here before it turns into a rant/history lesson.

Before 1954, when the United States was in the middle of the Cold War, the pledge did not include a reference to God. In adding it, members of Congress said they wanted to set the United States apart from 'godless communists.'
