Getting old....

So im not having a quarter life crisis or anything im only 21 and a senior in college. But the place i work at a few times during the week im in charge of a bunch of high schoolers at a coffee shop basically just yell at them and tell them to make drinks. Anyways, so i was talking to this one girl about music she likes and shes like omgggg z100 is the best.

I can't fucking stand the new popular bullshit that is out. The new rap music is beyond pathetic, some of it is catchy ill admit, but its so dam awful. So shes like oh well what do you like. Im like idk just good rap.

DMX is one of faborites i love his music. Well anyways this girl had no idea who DMX was at all not even the slightest idea. So i asked all the highschoolers and pretty much all of them had no idea about any of his music even though some of them heraad of the name. Blew my mind guess im getting fucking old

I never thought I'd say "you kids and your shitty music"....but then dubstep became popular. love electronic music, but my god dubstep fucking sucks. i don't understand the appeal...guess i must be getting old. fuck.

I was just having this conversation last night with a few of my girlfriends and one of their sisters was there who is 21. My friends and I were talking about how in middle school we would use the actual physical encyclopedias for research...and even early high school we would just use the Encarta CD ROM...the 21 year old was like "whaaaaaa? I don't even..."

yea well what do you expect, everyone is always looking for the newest, coolest thing. do you think teenagers in the 60s and 70s listened to music from the 40s and 50s? nope they listened to the beatles, jimi hendrix, pink floyd, etc. not frank sinatra and elvis.

Also your theory isn't entirely accurate...I've always listening to oldies, classic rock and classic country-- even when I was younger. I listened to new stuff too, but I definitely enjoyed/listened and knew of music from every decade.

As a 26 year old TA for mostly freshmen level intro poli sci classes I find myself hating today's "kids." Although I try my best to be sure they hopefully get something useful that they'll remember from the class instead of just going through the motions to fulfill GE requirements.

Getting older is chill. Be true to yourself and you will find yourself in your late 20s feeling no different than you did in College but ready to fuck shit up and armed with the knowledge and experience to do so.

But if your itching your vagina about this type of shit age 21 your in for some serious misery when you hit 25-26 so I would recommend cutting this crap out. I reverted to a somewhat normal life 3 years ago or so (age 24) and I had a normal life job/apartment/car payment/serious girlfriend and that shit was just too much for me since I couldn't earn enough money to make that shit click. I tried to do the normal shit to better myself (masters classes, looking for better jobs) but it was to no avail.

I still struggle with being overambitious and trying to solve all my problems quickly but things are a whole lot better now I am being myself and don't have some snake ass boss to answer to. Or pressures like a hot girl to take out to dinner a couple times a week or big monthly bills.

The biggest thing about life is its OK to fail at shit. If you want something bad enough to try don't worry if you fail because if your a G you will come back for round 2 better equipped. And if you fuck up again round 2 you will come back for round 3 even better. Decide what you want and take that approach. The other thing you need to remember is that life sucks and luck always goes against you. You really need to show up to shit ready to be the best to compensate for all the awful luck you are going to have (along with the fact you'll make mistakes.)

You're only feeling old because you're giving up on being young.

Listen to the music that's out there now, and really give it a chance. There's some good shit. Then, while you're at it, play some of your old man music for the kids and show them why you like it. Call em out on not knowing their history; get them educated.

You gotta embrace change as it comes. The rest of your life is gonna be miserable if you can't relate to high schoolers at age 21. Do not be a crotchety old dude. Ever.

The way I see it is that there are always gonna be the classics and the one hit wonders. Every decade has them. Then there are going to be the trendy artists. Now its one direction and dub step, ten years ago it was the backstreet boys and n'sync. Just give it some time and the good music of the decade will fall through the sieve.

What the fucking fuck. He also likes Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. He said: "Okay fine, play some of the rap that you listen to then". I played Hypnotize by Biggie, and some Ghostface track. he was like.. "What the fuck? Thats so fucking shitty, not even catchy."
