Spokane for a month late January/February

I'll be at Fairchild training for a few weeks starting Jan. 21st, and I'll have a 6 day break between training phases during that time too. I've never been up to Washington and I'd like to take advantage of whatever there is to do in the area. Would it be worth it to bring my skis and shred with some NSers? What's you favorite stuff to do in Spokane?

seriously though Spokane is pretty beat compared to the rest of the state. just a few hours to either stevens or snoqualmie tho

can't speak for schweitzer, never skied there. if you don't mind putting in the time and money into driving, i'd head west to the cascades and give Stevens or Alpental a try

Come up to Schwietzer. It's the best we have around here. I call it home, about 1.5 hrs from Spokane. Park is good, but don't expect it to be on a pow day (at least 'till later in the day). There is awesome tree skiing, decent steeps and drops, and good snow can be found days after storms.

I've always notice that people avoid the trees over there too. I've only been there a few times but, it seems like people don't even go in the trees, so tree skiing has been awesome when i've been there.

having skied alpental and white pass, i have to say schweitzer is wayyyyy better. just as steep, drier snow, less rain, and a good park. and no lift lines over 5 min.Check out Silver to, a little backwoods but they get more snow and have some seriously steep shit if you know where to go. also snoqualamie is around 3.5 hours, silver is around 1.5 and schweitzer is closer to 2

Anyone have tips on stuff to do on the weekends in Spokane? It doesn't have to be life changing, just better than sitting in a hotel room on my days off.

we actually get quite a few popular music artists that roll through so thats always good to scope out.

as for what mountain, schweitzer is where I ride, if I am feeling lazy and don't want to drive that far i will hit up 49 degrees north (takes about 30 minutes from where I live), which is 129048439861578 times better than mount spokane and they just opened another lift.

Schweitzer is definitely your best closest option. You never know whats going on in the Cascades until pretty much the day of and Crystal or Baker are probly the only comparible mountains to Schweitzer, and they are super far from Spokane.

shweitzer is amazing.. silver is decent, not really a good park... and mt spokane is a nice close mt to shred at even though its not very big. i go to mt spokane just cuz its super close

Thanks for all the tips, I'm sure they'll help me out. On days I can't ski though, what are some good spots to hit up for food and hanging out/having some drinks?

spend a day in cour' d' alene, sick lake, nice bars at the resort. I would also check out the rocket and rockwood bakery's on the south hill, super good cinnamon buns. Maybe go by Sports Creel in the valley or mountain goat for ski shopping and Riverfront Mall downtown is probably the best mall ive ever been to.
