you are looking at the list of most active friends that people who are friends with you see when they initially look at your friends list. those are the lists of names, which are in order of activity by YOU.
Kind of like how specific names appear on the top part of one's chat bar, but some of these people I have not interacted at all with on Facebook, and only talk to them face-to-face
It definitely has to do with how much you interact with these people. I'm just curious if this amount of interaction is determined by just yourself, or by the other person too (ie; them looking at your profile).
the first 4 were family members, then a reasonably close friend of mine (which is weird for a lot of reasons), then 2 ex girlfriends, then random people.
Don't get caught up in this. These aren't people you "interact" with or "never" interact with. This isn't who just searches your name and goes to it..It's like your top 8 on your timeline - think about who they are and when/how often you interact with them...it's just like the ads on the side that will change sometimes immediately to the general classification of something you recently browsed/purchased/looked at.
You can go to others' profiles and look at their top 8 and put two and two together. Start poking the fuck out of someone and watch them go to the top 5 - ie: sometimes I was poking with this chick 100+ times a day easy and never chatted with her or wrote on her page, etc..and somehow she is in top3.
It's an algorithm forsure, but not on who has your page bookmarked. Type in a letter to the searchbar of the friends list and see how it organizes them, not by alphabetization... You're not that special.
