OPUS vs SFB vs BENT

Hey guys,

So I am thinking about getting some new skis this year and I wondered if you guys could give me some advice on what of these skis if you have tried them.

I am small and light skier, 3.2ft 140pounds, I have mostly skied on the Skogan Sprang from Line and the Gotama from volkl. I want to change most of my quiver this year, but I wont get to test any of the skis because of where I am living.

I am thinking I could use the SFB as my everyday skis ? I am looking for something that can handle powder well, very playful but not too noodly. Also with the SFB should I get the 178 or 184? Currently I ride my Line in 178? Also when mounting them do you use the mid point provided by line?

As a powder skis, what would you recommend between the OPUS and the BENT? I ski in the south of Alps and we do get powder days, but probably not something comparable to what you guys would get on the west coast?

Yes for sfb everyday

bent chetler and opus are both great skis. somebody will go into detail on the differences but I'm gonna say you'll be happy with either

Its fairly surfy. Itl float good but not as good at the opus but the opus floats super well.

sfb's arent surfey for shit compared to the original ep's, or similar skis. for their width though they have plenty of float. they arent anything that great in deep powder, but for all around, mixed hardpack, chopped, powder, park etc.. they do all very well.
pretty much any resort powder day of mine consists of the first half day in fresh deep pow, cliffs and jibbing whatever. then maybe an hour or two skiing chopped up snow, then ill go to the park till it closes. and they do all of these very well. but coming off ep's and hellbents which honestly skiied chopped and park equally as well but more fun, ive been a tad let down. the only place sfb's out perform a big pow ski like ep's is when you want to do techy park stuff, these ski like a park ski but a tad heavier.

Thanks dude. To be honest I will be coming from a 90mm width ski with no rocker, so I can imagine the SFB are going to be an improvement anyway! What size do you ride?

Op If your still growing maybe consider 184. It's alot shorter than 184. Here's my source to back me up.

At your size of 165cm, a 180cm pow ski won't be to much I think. It is rockerd in front and back.
At first it might feel a little long but if you want a ski you can grow into deftly go with 184. If you like smaller skis go 178 but remember that will probably also be 4cm smaller than advertised.

I would say 178. I'm 5 11 and I ski 179 but they are a little short

184, mounted like 2 back from true center it doesnt feel big at all. the shorter size would be fun in park and stuff, i remember the original elizabeths were so fun being really short.

Also, considering what i just said about the bacons vs bents, etc.. i skiied the original bents in the park a lot, and i will say i liked them better than the bacons. the bacons hold you back just enough because of their size and weight, that im honestly not able to do more techy stuff than i was able to on my bents. like the difference between a park ski and bacons is much bigger than the difference between bacons and bents in the park. shit i learned switch 7's and 270's onto down rails on my bents. and something about the big rocker, flat underfoot, and flex just makes them one of if not the best park skis ive ever skiied, it opens up so many more possibilities for how you can hit stuff and how you can ski the park. while bacons dont really do that. they are just a fat ski that skis the park like a big park ski.

just something to keep in mind, im pretty much saying dont be scared of big ass skis in the park.

Thanks for your input man, really appreciated. I don't ski park at all, but like to be able to throw simpletricks in the backcountry. Again in relation to the size, am 1,70m skiing a 1,78 skis which so far as fell great. Apparently the SFB 184, feels like a 180, would you say that's correct?
