Good mountain in NY

OK, I know this is supposed to be in regionals, but they do not get enough traffic.
Alright, so my family and friends all want to do a ski trip in NY sate for 5 days on new years. What do you guys think would be a good mountain to go to with probably the most terrain open, good fun runs, and that has a lot of stuff do at night(restaurants, bars, etc).

Whiteface

/Thread.

It has Lake Placid as a town, further north than most other comparable Mts in size (Gore, Hunter), and should have decent snow by then for early season.

Come to Whiteface!
I guarantee well have more snow then anybody in new york at that point. the crews are blowin like crazy and theyre already starting to construct the main park. itll be the best bang for your buck so get the fuck up here

Never been to white face^ but a ton others, in upstate NY it's called bristol mountain
It's a small mountain but the parks are really good (2) I remember a lot of people coming to bristol from VT and other places even said it as well,

yeah whiteface is definatley a good time! and if they get enough snow they open "the slides", an ungroomed trail.

I say Holiday Valley. Lots of terrain, pretty good parks and a some good bars and ski shops in the village. Definitely stop by The City Garage.

^although this dude is the man, i gotta go with whiteface. Lake Placid is sweet, whiteface is huge with a good park. you are going with your family though, so just remember it is nicknamed Iceface. it can be icy, cold, and windy, (but i guess any place can be.) but it can also be sunny and awesome. just keep that in mind.

I have a gore/whiteface season pass. I love whiteface, even though I mostly go to gore. I went there last weekend actually. Such a blast. The town is awesome too. They also got 2 inches of snow last week. That's a lot for thanksgiving weekend

Bristol Mountain sucks. Holiday Valley sucks. Go to Whiteface, or that cool trampoline place in Buffalo called SkyWorkx or whatever cause it might be more fun that skiing in NY.

Like most people have ben saying, whiteface. Great place to visit, good skiing and a sweet town with everything you need for a vacation.

White face!

But gore is good and cheap, although it is much beter later in the season because the region gets far less snow then a lot of other north east mountains + their snow making capabilities are limited

ignant. new york has 46 high peaks and vermont only has 5 4k footers. i know your trolling but still.

whiteface is the shit but it can be pretty brutal conditions and weather. the town of lake placid is the fucking shit too

But yeah Whiteface is looking good. We just got 5 inches 2 days ago, and the snow crew is doing work. Park started coming together yesterday and is looking good! More runs are opening everyday. I should be there right now...but sadly I forgot to set my alarm...and I work at 3... day 9 shattered.

compared to most places in ny. bristol really isnt that bad. their park is pretty well kept compared to places like greek peak and holiday valley. ive never been to white face but i hear it can be pretty icy.

whiteface is really icy and terrible so definitely never come here. That way the lift lines stay short for me. For real though park crew has been killing it. check it out.
