Who all is farmiliar with Rangley Colorado? Im checking out the CNCC flight program there which seems quite reputable. But besides that, wheres some good skiing around there? I tried searchbarring but that didnt help much.. Its pretty close to the Utah border too. Any help? Thanks

I've been living in CO for 3 years (not too long but I know the place pretty well) and have never heard of Rangley. Sorry man. Bump to help

I was born and raised in Colorado, have lived here for 19 years and I have literally never heard of Rangely, CO

I've lived in colorado for 20 years now and I have never heard of Rangely before. So there's that. It looks like its about 2+ hours from absolutely everything, including skiing and civilization.

It is about 50 miles from nowhere man, I like the area but most people don't. It is not what you think Colorado is. There aren't really any mountains in that part of the state, more mesas and parts of the bookcliffs. If you are into hunting, dirt biking, ... it would be fun. Closest skiing is Powderhorn, Steamboat aspen are at least 2 hrs away with park city about 4 hrs away. Rangely is kind of a shit hole, but shit holes can be fun. Lots of coal and oil and gas jobs in the area so those are the kind of people that live there. I think that for hiking and stuff that the area is pretty cool because you get some different geography from the rest of the state.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I noticed its basically the biggest county in Colorado, meaning small population and also along with the area. Im visiting out there next weekend and I hope I like the school and area because pennsylvania is the real shitthole. I just want to go out west at this point.

honestly, it is not the greatest town but it is in a central location for skiing if you don't mind a 2-4 hr drive to aspen, steamboat, telluride, silverton, and the salt lake area

Pennsylvania is far from a shit hole. As much as I'd like to leave and move to Colorado, I'd much rather live in PA than a state that doesn't get any snow or have any sort of ski culture. Best of luck to you though.

Like everyone else has said, Rangley isn't near much. I have a few hunting buddies that live in the area - they're oil guys and their necks are permanently sun burned.

I'm not sure what flight school is exactly - but if you're thinking about commercial flying, I'm pretty sure Metro State has one of the best flight schools in the country, and that is right in the middle of Denver.

BUMP, I visited back in december and it was super sick. 2 hours from steamboat and 2 hours from powderhorn. So stoked to move out there!

There is no decision to make here. Steamboat. Driving to Powderhorn instead of Steamboat, would be like driving 2 hours to slam your nuts in a car door, versus driving 2 hours to bang a super model.

I stay in rangley every year for deer hunting, the area around it is really nice but it's tiny as hell, and nowhere close to really good skiing
