Early predictions for Olympic Teams/Results.

Yeah this was like 2005 ish.

I get what Ahmet is saying but...

I am by no means a comp skier, was kind of for a little bit but that has come and gone. I enjoy watching dew tour, x games and any other comp as it gets me stoked to ski like anything else.

As much as I dont like how the olympics is addressing skiing being in the olympics (FIS controlled, same judges for skiing and snowboarding, etc...) I think that it will be a good thing for people like ahmet.

Snowboarding made this segration a few years ago between comp and film skiers and I think we will see that more and more in skiing, which I really dont think is a bad thing.

Obviously it will create a huge influx of kids who may start skiing because its now "cool", I have seen that already, but there will always be the legit core of people who ski because they love it and if our sport being in the olympics makes those people think skiing isnt legit anymore than fuck them because they clearly dont really love the sport.

Ahmet I know you are going to keep killing it on the film side of things and if a section of our sport wants to focus on competition blah blaah blah that shouldnt effect you.

No one can put regulations on what can be done in front of a fucking camera no matter how hard they try.

I'm all for the Olympics. It's just a new area of expression and competition that our sport has reached. Yes, there'll be some blood sucking companies and more ski jocks. They'll only affect a tiny portion of our sport though. It's skiers like Ahmet who, although they hate the idea, are actually the ones that will keep freeskiing what it is and prevent the Olympics from defining us. They'll do this with unique contests, films, tricks, and pure stoke. The competition scene has always been capitalist at its roots. Skiers want money/fame/recognition and event organizers want money. Nothing will ever stop us from shredding the mountain however we want.

Also , its important to note that the best slopestyle skier in the world, is also the best urban skiier. So balance is indeed possible

ahmet seems like quite the douchenozzle. i fail to see how publicity through pros going ham will be a bad thing. it'll make more people want to ski which means more money in the industry which means cheaper products so we don't have to bitch about spending as much. resorts might also be willing to make parks even better because there's a larger audience for park skiing. it's simple economics. anyone whining about how it's all about the money is an idiot. of course it's all about the money. skiing is expensive.

Olympic skiing is now something different to what I do, its a sport I watch but don't play. I'll support my team in the Olympics and I will take interest but in the same way a football fan will support his team, maybe kick a ball about with some friends but never join a team.

No one has condemned him for his opinion. I dont know if you have realized this but one of the main points of a forum is for discussion.

so are you saying that if you were good enough to be in the olympics, you would try to prove a point by being all like "olympics are gay, skiing=ariels, fuck competitions" no. you'd fucking compete because its probably a once in a life time opportunity. Thats why most the best comp skiers in the world aren't against the olympics
