Tips for youth hostels

im going to canmore this weekend to go skiing at sunshine. Staying at the ACC HI canmore youth hostel in a dorm. Specifically in bell cabin. Anyone ever stayed there? Any advice on hostels would be helpful

Advice on hostels:
Keep all possessions near you at all times.
Don't get raped.

no real tips other than ive stayed in one hostel that was nicer and more modern than most hotels, ive also stayed in one with 8 beds in one room and there was body fluid on the wall.

Generally speaking in Europe when you find the hostel thats reccomended as cheap and full of kids on the travel guides...don't take it look around there will be a nicer locals oriented hostel very near by for the same money or less and it won't be grimy.
