You people realize that stuff won't be very expensive not long after it comes out? That is what happens with price-performance over time. Exponential decrease/increase (whichever way you look at it. Decrease for price, increase for performance)

i don't know that i want my car to drive itself to be honest. nor am I all that thrilled about someone being able to "hack" my car's computer to see everywhere i go and when. i mean, yeah, the technology is cool, but haven't you guys ever seen I, Robot?

Plus, I like to drive. I don't want a computer doing it for me. Although it would be pretty fuckin' dope when I make my treks out west because I tell you what, Nebraska fucking sucks. I suppose I would totally autopilot across that state and just watch a movie, sleep, etc.

Whatever though....that technology is a long way away from being mass produced and affordable.

No it isn't. It is very, very close. And you contradict yourself quite a bit here. Whether you like it or not, that is where the future is headed (actually much more extreme). I am sure you still will have an option to be able to drive, manual transmission and all. I am all for that.

I meant more along the lines of it being a long way away from ALL cars on the market having this option more so than a few new models being released. It looks like roughly 5 years until release, and probably closer to 30 years before they own the road.

And no fucking shit I contradicted myself quite a bit there.....because I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it yet. I have mixed feelings on the subject. Also, I am well aware that that is the direction technology is heading regardless of how I feel. Thanks for stating the obvious.

what happens when you get in a crash in auto pilot, whose fault is it? all this technology can be nice but im telling you it will demolish our privacy, all i know is i will be driving my beautiful 2002 while all you fools have some Google priuses running on cow poop, thinking your saving the environment when the recourses/waste in production will be 10x worse than my emissions.
