Hey Im 16, still growing and filling out. I am 6'4 and weigh 150 so Im pretty lean needless to say. Currently i own Atomic Panic skis and am looking to add a powder orientated ski to my quiver. I ski at Mt. Bachelor and am looking for a ski that I can have fun on in the pow, ski some trees as well as do some booters and spin. I went in to my local shop thinking the 185 JJ would be a good choice for me however some of the guys there thought that that length ski, since Armada JJ's already ski short would be to short for me. They had me looking at the AK JJ and Magic J instead. I realize that both of these skis are larger and if anyone has any ideas/opinions on any of these skis they would be appreciated. The reason I was timid about AK JJ is because I know it is a completly different ski than the JJ and I am afraid I wont be able to spin as well. I dont really know much about the Magic j because it is new this year too. Keep in mind I am looking to have fun and I have another pair of skis that I will be using in addition to these. Thanks.
If I was 6'4" and still might grow I would defiantly go for the 195 AK JJ out of the skis you mentioned. Rockered skis ski shorter and honestly I don't know if 195 would even be long enough for you. I'm 5'11" and ski a 190 full rocker ski. I know the AK JJ isn't full rocker but it is still going to feel really short. Maybe look into longer skis from a different company. Possibly the Volkl Shiro witch they make in a 203. Good Luck!
Go with the AK JJs. I'm 6'2" 155ish and the 185s ski a tiny bit short. They have tons of rocker in the tip and in the tail and the contact on the groomers is hugely diminished. Nearly all of the contact is between the 2 fattest points before the tip and tail unless you really get it up on edge. Especially if you're still growing AKs no doubt.
