Replying to what happened to rock music

beer.:
I don't have a ton of musical knowledge, but I was just wondering, does anyone know what happened to harder alt rock music over the last ten years? In the late eighties and early 90s, there were great bands like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Guns n Roses, Rage, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and plenty of others.

Today we have...Linkin Park, Staind, and other shit. Kurt Kobain and Chris Cornell could sing about pain and remain masculine and authentic. Bands these days just whine about all the fake angst they have nonstop. I blame it all on a lack of drugs I guess.

Thank God Velvet Revolver and Audioslave are around. If you know any other good bands like them, please post them, as I don't know too much about lesser known bands.
