When you use the NS media uploader, it's assigned a spot in cyberspace with a 6 digit number. Sort of like how every member has a certain number. So if we post an image tags with a 6 digit number that has been used by a picture, we get a picture that's been uploaded to the site.

That's my laymans description of how I think it works... I'm no internet wizard...
