Saw someone's Facebook status today and it got me thinking.
Anyone ever done New Year's Eve in NYC? I assume a lot of you probably have actually.
I'm looking at getting some friends together and going to Nas at Radio City Music Hall, proceeded by festivities at Times Square, which is less than a half of a mile away.
Anyone who's got experience with New Year's Eve in the city, care to share your advice? Parking, bars to go to, etc.?
I have some experience with the city so I wouldn't be going in totally blind. (I live 3 hours away.)
Serious answers +K
Thanks NS.

going to the ball drop is one of the biggest most touristy things you could possibly do. Uness you go like 3 days before you will be no where near times square and getting around is going to be a disaster. Im going into nyc (live 50 min north on train) but i will be at some bars and clubs instead wayyyy funner. Open bars are the way to go if your in school someone always knows someone who is having one. Open bar for a few hours then bounce around the city to bars/clubs

Last year some friends and I went to a new years eve party at a new hotel called Yotel on 10th avenue and we're doing it again this year. There are so many events going on in the city going to times square is pretty much the least fun thing you could do. You should look into buying tickets beforehand if you want to go to a good bar/club, usually they have a pretty good deal for people looking to get in after 12 30 and jump on an open bar till it closes if you're still going to be at nas for midnight. Also check out newyearseve.com and newyearsevecentral.com there are a STUPID amount of events you can go to, just have to do a little research and know what you're looking for. good luck.

if you go to time square, you will get piss on you.
you will step in piss.
piss will get in your mouth.
in your ears.
your hair.
in your nose.
you will get pissed on, pissed near, pissed off, fuck, you might even pee on a person. one time my brother and i saw a woman sustain a powerful stream of piss against the passenger door of a taxi cab for upwards of a minute. it was like a geyser. a piss geyser.
seriously, the environment around times square on NYE is like 4% oxygen 38% nitrogen 58% human piss
so yeah, you like pee, times square new years eve is the place to be. you dont like pee? probably stat away from there. its like piss city. urinetown.

phish/biscuits/pretty lights/rjd2 will alllll be such a fun party. times square always looks cold, boring, and overcrowded; I'd avoid that one.

I could actually picture this being a problem. I mean all these people drinking, and a huge lack of porta potties/ restrooms.
