prodes and beacons?

So i've been looking at finally getting a solid BC set up to go with my new fat skis. anyone know where i can read some reviews on trancievers and probes? like how big of a probe do i need? 230, 240 280 300? and do people recommend any specific brands for quick set up?

i got ortovox everything pretty much.

240 Light Probe, and M2 Beacon.

The BCA beacon is in my opinion the most user friendly. The ortovox has a better field usage for griding an area looking for multiple transmitters, but hopefully you won't need that. You really can't go wrong with beacons these days because as long as they are digital, they are relatively simple to operate. Make sure you play some hide and seek before you go out with them and understand how to use it.
By no means does a beacon give you the right to be a moron. If you are using it, then you have already failed. The trick is to not need it.

From what I've seen the Ortovox and the G3 are both pretty solid. But like the guy above me said, if you're using it, then you've already failed.

I like the Ortovox tranceivers the best. They are easy to use and have a nice harness system that makes them easy to take on and off quickly. As for probes there are about 100 different ones and they are all pretty much the same. Just an aluminum pole. I go with a longer one just because if you aver do have to use one it be nice to have it as long as possible just in case. Check out Coulior, Backcountry, and Telemarking magazines for reviews

I use the ortovox beacon, but i think the mammut one looks pretty sweet too.

Ohh yeah crap that's what I ment. I like the Mammut/Baravox one the best. It's easier to use than the Ortovox.
