So I know you guys are out there. Im thinking we could organize a fly-in to a neutral airport somewhere this summer. If we get enough people to do this and find an airport with enough of a night life in the area Im sure it would be an absolute blast. Im thinking it would be really fun to be a couple days. If we have enough willing pilots, we could also be able to include others that would be able to be picked up enroute. If you are interested, post in this thread if you could fly, and where you're based from. If you are interested in coming along for a ride, post which municipal/regional/county airport you would be able to be picked up at. Lets make this work Newschoolers, this could be awesome.

Or we could all just wait till Oshkosh is on, plan to meet up somewhere, and then journey the worlds greatest airshow and aircraft exhibit known to man.

Not sure if I'd be game to fly all the way from Canada though... I like flying but for me and the 172, that's ambitious...

Ive never been to oshkosh but my instructor raves about it so much. It sounds like its an absolutely insane place to be.

Isn't aircraft gas really expensive? And not many MPG? I know that my dad's friend would fly us on weekend trips and it would cost several hundred dollars in gas.

There's one tower at the Oshkosh airport itself but the procedure to land is crazy. there is a book to read before you fly in and you don't reply you just rock your wings to the controllers on the ground so the radio isn't so clogged with traffic. i have gone three times with my dad all the way from Alberta Canada was a blast. so much to see and do. David Lesh founder of FD Outerwear went this summer

My friend works for Oshkosh defense, apparently the town sucks, but if you're going for the adventure of flying there, I guess you might enjoy it.

Yeah its not the cheapest, but its worth it. And since we own the family business and sell gas, it helps cut costs for us a lot. Fuel consumption is also measured in Gallons Per Hour.
