I am 6'1 or 6'2, but I haven't really considered it in terms of skiing. I don't think that it changes too much. I mean, you have been part of your body your whole life, you should be used to it now. I don't know, is there a difference?
all you guys at 6' acting like that makes a difference lol. im 6'5" and i dont really think it matters. you just have to be stronger to control your body better
i dont think it makes much difference unless youre doing doubles/triples on tiny jumps. all your weight is closer to your center of mass when youre short so itd be easier to rotate faster perhaps.
if you think hight makes any difference you are are just coming up with lame ass excuses. bobby b, wesson, spriggs, martini and downey are all over 6 foot i believe. i'm 6'3 and never had a reason to complain about it.
im 6'3 and i dont think its a burden being taller. that being said, if you are one of those skinny ass lanky MFers' without any muscle development, you might have a problem in terms of ski athleticism.
I also wonder this. not just in terms of low center of gravity but how much easier it must be to do tricks when you have that much less body to get around
Wait, so... it makes no difference, but you have to be stronger. I think your sense of logic needs to be stronger.
And obviously, being taller makes inverts probably harder, since even when you tuck yourself in the smallest possible ball, you're still going to be bigger than the small guys. That being said, if everything wasproportionnal (jump size, rail size, etc.), it should not make a difference.
Height doesn't really matter, but my brother has a size 15 shoe, so he can't get full tilts, dabellos, or spk's. He has to wear shit downhill boots. I am a 14, and I can still wear 31.0 full tilt's. If my feet grow I'm gonna be pissed, full tilt only makes up to 31.5.
I have noticed that tall skiers are usually better at laying out underflips, while the short fucks can ball up well for rodeos. May not always be true but that is what I have noticed.
I don't think being tall hurts style at all. You're probably thinking about pencil spins and stuff but being tall and lank actually somewhat helps style. I've been told my backflips look better because of my height...
There are definitely enough tall skiers out there who absolutely slay it that I don't think anyone can argue that it isn't possible for tall skiers to have good style. That said, I definitely think it is more of a challenge for tall skiers to make shit look good. We simply aren't as compact and any flailing about we do is infinitely more noticeable. Also it often looks like we are rocking retardedly short skis (especially when they are center mounted) because as mentioned above nobody makes long enough park skis for us.
I am about 6'1-6'2 and you cant excuse anything with your height since it prob makes spinning and flipping harder, but not a lot. I am doing fine, but seems like some smaller guys just seem to float on the rails since they just make the spinning look like it's nothing, but I guess that is just caused by lighter skis n' stuff, since smaller guy can be as strong as taller guy (no shit). But height isn't an excuse for sucking in park, ever.
I'm 6'2" and the only thing in my opinion is we ski longer skis. people step on them more in the liftline and are alittle heavier but i ain't complaining. my skiing can talk or itself!
