Boohoo. How does racism affect the responsibilities of a gun owner? Just because he said a racist thing doesn't mean he's going to shoot every person out there who isn't white, calm the fuck down and don't take things so personally.

He seems like a great gun owner, and knows what he is talking about. I'd rather have him owning guns than you, since obviously you can't stay out of trouble. GET BACK TO YO CITY.

My .380 is tiny because trying to conceal my full size p95 would be a bitch. Somebody tries to rob me and i will reach for my wallet and bring out my .380 instead. Its not to scare them with, its to kill them. I have one of the smallest AKs made becuase small guns are much more practical for defense. Same reason i have an 18.5 inch barrel on my 12g.

I find it funny how you assume that I don't have the training necessary to use a firearm effectively. I will be competing in the collegiate national pistol marksmanship championships in the fall. I grew up in Dayton, Ohio, one of my best friends brothers bashed one of our other friends heads in with a rock then watched her get ran over by trains. Some people are fucked up, and you can damn well believe that if someone goes crazy I would like to be able to defend myself. Even in Utah some shit happens, you should request a ride-along with your local police and see some of the crazy shit that goes down even in neighborhoods you would never expect. The point of a gun is definitely not to intimidate people either, its to protect yourself if you truly fear for your life. Moms get raped, families get murdered, you NEVER know who it is going to happen to, so why not be prepared?

And just to show that crazy things happen everywhere (even in incredibly safe salt lake), and that guns CAN help situations...

2.He seems like a great gun owner. not really he seems like every person who drives a car. you know how many people think they are great drivers do it everyday, have taken classes, and think can handle any car in any skid at any speed in any weather. then when push comes to shove they don't know what they are doing because all the training in the world wont prepare you for a high pressure life and death situation/a skid and they will crash. same thing with gun owners i think all of them believe they are better shooters then they actually are. "but wait i win national competitions all the time." good job you can shoot a paper target while standing still that's not the same as someone else hiding in a door way shooting back at you or some one trying to come at you with a knife. if 3 guys broke into your house with weapons i know you think you will be Rambo and kill 3 people like its nothing. the shooting range wont prepare you for that.

3.since obviously you can't stay out of trouble. i have never been charge with a crime, because i have never done anything wrong good job reading.

4. i said i don't live in the city, again good job reading.

Never have been and never will be an NRA member, as I do not support the association. However, I AM a huge supporter of gun rights and have owned a ridiculous number of firearms. I concealed carry at all times, except when at work, federal buildings, and other posted areas.

As a female who's been attacked while unarmed before (while on vacation in southern California) AND has had a middle-aged male stalker, I can tell you that there is a necessity for personal protection.

People who should not have handguns are going to acquire them whether they're legal or not. I'd MUCH rather have my own firearm and know how to use it accurately in case another person attacks or confronts me with one so that the playing field is evened out instead of waiting for who knows how long until the cops show up. I can draw my pistol, chamber a round, and get three kill shots fired off in five seconds, whereas the local police could take minutes to hours to get to where am; and that's assuming I'd be able to call them in the first place.

It is said that if you were to outlaw guns, then only outlaws would have guns. In the words of Nelson Mandela:

"When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw."

Your point about three armed men robbing my house is retarded which is what ive come to expect from you. Them having weapons or breaking into my house is independent of my gun ownership.

3 guys come into my house and i will shoot until either they are all dead or i am dead. You would just get murdered and not even stand a chance. I will take my chances with 5 shells of 00 buck. Not to mention i can manuever my house in the dark. I know where i will post up if the situation should arise and i would bet on me winning more often then not.

have you ever even fired a gun? You always post in gun threads and you know almost nothing about guns, gun laws or gun ownership.

Im done with this. We can have a pissing match all night and it wont accomplish anything. Look, i will agree that the world would be a much better place without guns. I would gladly give mine away if everyone did the same. But thats not the case, bad guys have them. I havent busted my ass in school just to be killed by some junkie who needs his fix. Anyone who promotes stricter guns laws in the us is promoting that only criminals should have guns.

I have been robbed twice once with with another nser in nyc 5 guys 2 had knifes and one was at gun point (i have no idea if it was loaded or not, but i was scarred shitless when it was pointed at me) by myself. and guess what as you said i am still alive i gave them my wallet lost a debit and credit card which were never used to make purchases my license and 14$ in cash, and a shity flip phone. but guess what as you said I'm still alive. im not going to argue with you any more because you seem to have your mind made up and wont even think about considering any other opinion. you have this mind set that everyone with a gun plans on using them for my experience it was used as a scare tacit and it worked im not going to kill someone over 20$ worth of stuff even if i had a gun. you also have this mind set if 5 guys in a city robbed you you would fire fight to the death and come out unscaved after you killed all 5. get back to reality realize your not superhuman you can go to the getto and strangle black people with your underwear you'er a normal person you would not win that fight just give them your wallet. if it was one person robing a gas station and you were hidden in the back it would be a different story. I'd rather not take the chance that the person who robs me isn't someone who's just using a weapon as a scare tactic.

And fuck yeah, if five guys in a city attacked and robbed me, and I feared for my life, I would definitely shoot them... Or at least do my best to shoot as many as I could. If you fear for your life, then what idiot wouldn't? Your chances of survival if someone's trying to kill you and you don't fight back are zero. However, if you DO fight back, your chances greatly increase, regardless of whether it's five attackers or one.

IT IS BEST TO HAVE A FIREARM AND NOT NEED IT THAN TO NEED ONE AND NOT HAVE IT.

I have shot many thousands of rounds through dozens of guns, particularly those that I hunt with and those that I carry on my person. Most people who use handguns to attack people haven't spent dozens of hours (if any at all) practicing firing, as I have. The odds of me hitting my target are extremely greater than theirs, and thus, my chances of survival if I do become involved in a gun fight are also much greater.

My boyfriend's cousin was shot four times during a gun fight a few years ago, and a good friend of mine who was with him pulled out his own pistol and fired back, killing one of the men who had shot Adam. My friend was charged with various degrees of murder and manslaughter and was acquitted of all charges a year ago because he was defending his best friend. Adam got married this year and is expecting a child in May. That wouldn't have been possible if Anders hadn't been armed himself.

If you fear for your life, just give them what they want, they leave and you are still alive. As soon as you pull a gun, then basically someone is going to die, so your chance of being killed skyrockets. If you are talking about saftey, then the most safe option by fucking miles is to not have a gun, or to not use a gun.

Pulling a gun could only increase your chance of survival in one situation, if the other person is trying to kill you, which is sweet fuck all of the time if you are getting robbed.

the point of that wasnt that it made me more "thug", but instead to show that people do crazy shit. We have differing opinions of how to handle the same situation, and while mine is backed by statistics (at least in the US, different story im sure in canada), I think its just that, a difference in opinions that neither of us will change. In addition, I have had quite a few hours of tactical training as well and am confident that I would be a more competent shooter than some random thug on the street. With that said, it is obvious that we simply have opposite stances and neither of us will change the others opinion on the issue.

If the victims of these mass shootings had guns they might have survived. Also people that commit mass shootings will be able to get guns even if it is illegal for your average citizen. Outlawing guns doesn't make guns go away it makes it so only the outlaws have guns, so your average Joe can't protect himself.

I like the versatility of the 30-06. I can take town fairly big game with a great range, but still have the ability to go partridge hunting if I feel like it. Also said its a mossy. They are ok.... But as someone said before if your comfortable with the lever action.... Move up to the bolt. Just as far as actions go you just can beat bolt. The .308 just isn't in the cards right now..... And to be honest I don't really need it for what I mostly go for.

To the guy who said I should kill my self. I voted NDP because the conservatives we going to try to push unions out of northern Ontario, cut all French rights, and cut down environmental regulatory standards. As someone who believes in workers rights, who is French and doesn't want to lose his culture, and as an outdoorsman ( sorry guys environmentalism and conservation go hand in hand.... If your a hunter that is). They were the party for me.

Maybe in your state, but crime is different in Alaska. We have the most rapes and murders per capita in the US. Again, I've been physically attacked before when someone demanded my wallet. Luckily, he didn't have a gun, but he didn't just want my wallet. As a female in Alaska, it's smartest that I DO carry a firearm and know how to use it. If someone is truly just trying to use a gun as a scare tactic, and a person pulls a firearm out and aims it back at him with confidence (showing that she obviously knows how to use it), it's actually more common that the attacker will flee.

I've also been smart enough to learn some self defense. I've taken numerous tactical classes (tactical shooting, particularly) and can disarm someone easily. I also carry a Spyderco and have pepperspray on my key chain in case I don't have my pistol.

If it gets to the point where I feel it necessary to fire my pistol at someone because my life is in danger, I will fire kill shots. Hopefully, and most likely, I will never be in that situation.

But again, I'd much rather have a firearm and not need to use it than need one and now have it.

Why can't I use Alaska for a gun control argument? Yes, we are legally allowed to conceal carry up here without getting a permit, but I got mine regardless.

Like I've said before: criminals will acquire guns regardless of legality. When stricter gun control laws are enacted, it disarms honest citizens. It doesn't keep firearms out of the hands of criminals! Could you imagine how much safer New York City would be if criminals KNEW that everyone had a gun and thus, that the playing field was equalized? Could you imagine how much safer this country would be if people were required to have some sort of gun safety training at a young age?

Oh, and thank you for further proving my point by posting up those maps showing gun-related deaths... Alaska is one of the WORST states for deaths by firearms. Alcohol/drug abuse is a major contributing factor to the crime rate up here.

pretty terrible what just happened in Florida. case and point, civilians are not adequately trained, and are proven to make poor judgments which lead to the deaths of teenagers when civilians are allowed to carry concealed weapons in public. shit would never have happened if that asshole didnt have a gun. while guns have helped in certain situations, one death is far too many.
