Griffon problem

got a pair of griffons  mounted on a pair of skis, on one of the toe pieces, the black base part that holds 2 screws is gone. so that toe piece will only have 2 screws holding it it, massive issue? i feel like i will snap them off

Ive had two pairs of griffons but i cant really picture what your saying. But from what youve said, yes, only two screws holding on the toe piece would scare the crap outta me. Go to a shop that sells marker and have em order you the piece

yeah, I'm missing the same piece off one of my Griffon toe pieces, go to a local shop and see if they have a spare or would be willing to order something for you. Its a shame that such a small, insignificant piece of plastic determines the performance of your bindings.

yea fuck i was afraid so, not going to bother fixing them, old pair of skis i got free, guess ill buy some bindings

just out of interest are you saying the toe piece is missing the black plastic bit right in the foreground of this picture that 2 screws are meant to go into?

and your binding is held down by the two screws at the back just in front of the slider?
if so thats awful.
the marker jig has the 4 holes you need to drill for the toes so clearly marked out. you need to be a total moron not to notice and drill them, and if the tech did drill them was he not made aware something wasnt right when they had the plastic bit left in the box with 2 screws and two unfilled holes?
I would take it back to the shop and show them. the binding isnt safe and the shop should pay to sort out the tech stupid mistake and putting you in danger. a toe piece with half the screws is way more likely to rip out (at least twice as likely)

my bad didnt notice you got them for free (of somebody else and not a shop i assume)
its a serious deal as i pointed out. i cant understand how you could mount up 2 skis differently and not notice having a piece left over. i would go to your nearest marker dealer and ask if they have/can get you a spare plate & screws because its a relatively easy fix.
unscrew toe, put plate in, put back toe piece. as long as you dont strip the threading on the ski when you take off the toe it should be fine.

i know...its a pain in the ass. If you were in the US i would print a shipping label, mail it to you in an empty box and then arrange for USPS to pick it up at your house. But sadly, youre in canada.

You can still have the photos for your time though

That's kind of an unnecessary purchase. Why spend $100-$300 on a pair of bindings when you can pay $10-$20 for a plastic piece?? That's what makes sense to me...

You should take em to the hill and give em to a kid with even crappier bindings and say "merry christmas". I mean, if you are never gonna use them think about the level of stoke you would bring that kid. It be a badass move IMO

but get the extra part first. giving him the bindings without the bit is worse than not doing it at all. im going to call on the holiday you should be celebrating/celebrated in october because you're canadian, thanksgiving and say its the thing to do.

thats good idea i'd love to do that, but i dont wanna give a kid broken bindings :p, maybe ill give em to the local thrift shop

theyre not broken though you're just missing a plastic piece and 2 screws. giving them to thr thrift store is just as bad almost worse as your not going to be there to tell the buyer whats up with them.
