I hiked the mountain last weekend. Still not much snow but the forecast is looking good. Anyway the mountain opens in less than 3 weeks!

Tomorrow will probably be day three of Big skinning in a row.

Lifts will be nice, but I'm not sure I'm ready to share with the masses. It's so much fun up there.

Everywhere I've gone this year, I've brought snow! I must be a snow god. Steamboat was mowing their lawns in town two weeks before I showed up for 3 days of face shots.

Not trying to thread jack but anyone here work at Whitefish resort or know anyone who does? I had some questions and trying to get answers.
Im getting sick of dealing with all the BS at my current mountain work place so Im looking into other mountains for next year.
Whitefish resort is at the top of my list for other places to work cause it was awesome last time I was there and doesn't seem like it would ever get packed.
Questions I had were whats the new hire rate at whitefish? Whats the cost of living in the area? Would it be worth it to live farther away like Kalispell and commute or just live in whitefish and take a shuttle to the mountain? Is the community or skiers and riders open to new people or do you have to be a local/multiple year vet before people even talk to you outside of work?
Anyone who can answer or send me in the right direction just post or PM me. Thanks for any help.+kk

The park is coming along pretty well. They have some new jibs and a new jump that's like 40-45 feet. As far as places to find powder, there are good little sidecountry runs all over the mountain. It would be pretty tough to describe how to get to them though.

Yeah there are some spots off the t-bar. If you look forward and to the left after you get to the top of the t-bar there's a hill. Look for the bootpack up it. Chances are, you'll see someone else headed up there and can follow them. You can drop in on either side but the side further from the t-bar gives you a much longer run.

These are probably pretty bad instructions but most locals will be able to point you in the right direction once you're there.

Its gonna be really warm for most of the week. They are starting to take down features in the park but they just rebuilt the jumps and the it's still better than usual. I also heard that they are building some kind of sick new feature later this week. Not sure what it's going to be though.

They said they are going to be taking them down one by one. I'm sure there will be a park left. As far as I know they aren't taking any of the jumps down. I think they are just taking down the rail features when they melt enough that they can't be rebuilt.
