How to quit my job?

so i live in australia and am moving over to canada in 5 days, cant fucking wait! the last 4 weeks or so i have been working a pretty shitty ass job to make up a little extra money for my trip and never told my boss i was going away. he has given me shifts for everyday this week plus saturday and sunday. i plan on getting shitfaced saturday and sunday before i go away so i dont intend on working the weekend. now that the time has arrived for me to go away, should i tell my boss or not? and if so what should i tell him?

serious question, i know its not the best idea to ask NS due to maturity levels but i thought id give it a shot. inb4 jokes about peeing in his butt and taking a dump on his doorstep.

2 WEEKS NOTICE BECAUSE:

A) I WAS A CASUAL EMPLOYEE
B) WOULD RESULT IN NO SHIFTS
C) IT WAS A MEANINGLESS JOB THAT PEOPLE COME AND GO FORM ALL THE TIME

Hahaha, when did NSG start pretending to be mature!? I probably wouldn't act like that, but then again, I don't give any fucks that OP did.

Seems like she had a casual job without a notice period, and she treated it just like everyone else at the job. The one thing I am puzzled about is why this thread needed to be made, given that the outcome was always quite obvious.

Do you understand how a two-week notice works? Let alone a job? A TWO-WEEK notice means you have plans of quitting in TWO WEEKS. You still get shifts up until the date you and your boss agree that you will leave. You seem to think that you quit as you hand in the notice. That is all.

No, she's saying her boss is going to tank her hours and stop giving her shifts once she hands in notice. I've had this happen to me before in construction, your boss gets  a chip on his shoulder and to prove how expendable you are is like, "oh whatever I don't give a fuck I'll have your replacement in here by tomorrow" Its not right but it does happen. Its not an excuse to not give notice, but thats what she was talking about.

do u not understand that a two week notice is only necessary for a part time and full time job? because i was employed as a CASUAL, it meant that if i had given him two weeks, there is absolutely no obligation nor incentive what so ever for him to even give me shifts for the next day. he has a legal right to say "oh ok dont bother coming in tomorrow then."

yes if i had of been employed as PART TIME or FULL TIME, then a two week notice is to be handed into him and he legally has to give me shifts for the next two weeks, however that was not the case.

anyway i cant believe some of u still insist on throwing arguments at me saying im ignorant and retarded. i think i know the situation im in just a little bit better then u. i came here to ask for advice and instead get hit back with immature responses from people who have no fucking clue what theyre talking about and insist im the dumb one.

over it. issues been resolved anyway.

sooo back to the point. i told my boss that i was quitting and guess what happened!!!!




























absolutely nothing.

i told him that i had applied for a job in canada and recieved an email a few days ago saying that they were happy with me and asked if it were possible to be in the country by the end of november for an orientation. i told my boss it was just too good of an opportunity to miss and he completely understood. he said thanks for telling me and asked if i could finish my shifts. i said yes and we were on perfectly fine terms with eachother. no rustled jimmies and no hard feelings at all. i have my last shift friday, stereosonic music festival on saturday where i plan on being fucked up all day long at the hard LA stage, resting on sunday and flying out on monday.

You supposed to get paid by direct deposit?

Or is he mailing you a check?

Checks take a while to get to Canada from Aus. If he is supposed to have it depositied into a bank account well...you might have gotten screwed.


I would call the police to raise a sense of urgency if you think he is ducking you. Threaten lawsuits etc.

If he gets a call from the cops he'll pay what he owes its probably not an amount of money worth the aggrivation.

If he fucks you I would sue him and say he sexually harrassed you.

If you need money that badly you could always be a hooker. I know it isn't the most prestigious job, but it is easy money and it will get you through some tough times. Back in nursing school I was sucking 20 ball sacks a day just to feed my family, but it has paid off in the end! I now work at Perkins!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!
