Replying to Should I even lift?

I'm considering throwing small lift on my 4runner. I'm not sure if it would be cool or a waste of money that I'd regret. Mainly just to soften the suspension a bit, no serious off roading mostly just blasting around in the snow, fire roads and muddy fields but I cant tell if it would be neat or if I'd become "That douche with the lifted truck that blast the RPMs unnecessarily high so you can hear his shitty exauste" that everyone hates or if it can be done tastefully.
