Its not even thanksgiving yet, and I've already been bitched out MULTIPLE TIMES by some fucking high-horse vegans who don't approve of my holiday traditions. Well guess what? I know that I'm supporting a non-sustainable industry, I know its not nice to kill animals, I know that vegetables are healthy, but guess what else? I don't give a fuck because my turkey tastes fucking delicious. And your soy based gravy and Tofurkey both make eating dinner remind me of life in a Vietnamese POW camp, not how much I love Indians. And if I invite you to my house for dinner, and I give up watching football to make dinner for your sorry ass because your family hates you and wont let you come home for the holidays,and you show up with your own personal soy turkey because you think you're too goddamn good for my barbaric meat-thrashing, then you can eat it right out of the dog bowl. I'm sure Buck would love to share with you.

I don't care if you get off on saving the world by not eating meat. In fact, I appreciate it because in the long run you're doing me a favor, and it means there's more for me. But please for the love of eating like a human rather than a bird, keep it in your own home, and don't bring it into mine.

I never said eating excesssive amounts of meat was natural, nor did I say that eating meat wasn't a choice. I said it isn't a choice like religion or politics.

I do in that... you can choose. You can be 100% as healthy or 0973% as healthy or 50% as healthy not eating meat, so the argument of it being natural is -who cares- and like politics and religion you may be largely influenced to make one choice over another. So people who talk about being vegetarian are just expressing their beliefs. I agree that it can be much, as a vegetarian even, but whatever, it can be a bit much with politics or religion too. It's no different.

Yeah, not really though. I don't want to get involved in the argument for or against meat, which is where this thread has gone.

I don't care what people do. I also don't want to get in an argument with someone who has a misunderstanding of my original post, dragging me into an argument I never cared to have to begin with.

So yeah, if this is a debate thread, I don't want to get involved. If it becomes a thread about vegetarian/vegan jokes, I will return.

That's fucking stupid. Of course there are arguments for going vegetarian.

Yes eating meat is natural. However if you are of european decent you likely eat much more meat than is natural. Basically any ethnicity that had extensive agriculture are adapted to eat much less meat than we do today. On the on the other hand, native americans from high latitudes have the opposite problem. Diabetes and obesity is a huge problem in those populations because they are not adapted to eat the large amount of carbohydrates in the modern western diet.

Eating meat is also not a necessity. There is nothing you can get from meat that you cannot get from a vegetarian diet. You can eat healthy or unhealthy with both a vegetarian and a mixed diet.

The people who get all macho and talk about how much they love steak, or how vegetarians are pussies, are just as fucking annoying as the vegans who do the opposite.

I've literally been made fun of before for not eating meat. By guys who have probably never even shot a gun or even landed a fish. I don't get how they think that going to the meat aisle and picking up a steak makes them more manly than me. I REALLY don't get why they had to felt the need to belittle me.

I really shouldn't take your bait AR6 rider. But there are plenty of delicious foods on this side. I pretty much only ever miss steak. Nothing else. Actually fuck it, disregard that. You are to fucking stupid for me to waste my time.

I get why people wont eat certain meat. I dont get what people have against eating wild meat. That deer is in the forest to be eaten. If i shoot it it dies quick or a couger or pack of wolves can tear it to shreds.

Industrialized meat and feed lots are bad, im on board with that. Eating a deer from the forest is the way its supposed to be done. mmmmm elk backstrap

I have no problem with vegans and vegetarians, but imo meat is just such a more satisfying meal, and tastes damn good. And BUT LOCAL MEAT, it tastes sooo good. My family purchase half a cow and got a bunch if different cuts and my god was it good, best steak and burger I have ever had. The cow grew up about 10 minutes away from us And had a huge pasture to roam, so of course it was grass fed. Mmmm, but we are now all out of the hamburger and steaks :(

Yes and no. I am on board with the fact that hunting is way more legit than factory farming, and that naturally deer are a prey item, however..

I would argue that deer don't serve any purpose (or anything for that matter) and that other predatory animals don't have the choice to kill deer or not to survive. As advanced humans who can build cars so we don't have to naturally walk, we have the choice and ability to survive without killing deer. When we admit that deer feel pain like our dogs and cats, the argument to not kill them becomes stronger. Personally I am veggie for environmental reasons and a lot of the time killing deer can benefit ecosystem health by helping them not exceed carry capacity, and hunting has really low CO2 upstream costs so I am down with it. Just trying to point out that we do a lot of things different from the way they are supposed to be done and it can be said that not killing deer is more 'right' than killing them, so what's natural is not really an argument here imo.

I agree with this, only because eating game right now is sustainable. However we could not feed the entire population with wild animals, so if people want to eat meat, farming is necessary. If people want cheap meat/lots of meat, factory farming is necessary.

Choice is entirely up to you. Nobody asked you have a nutritional diet - you can do what you want. You can skimp on beef if you're drowning yourself in other proteins on a daily basis. Fact is though, you can't get a lot of vital proteins and vitamins unless you soak yourself daily in substitutes, and a lot of those substitutes provide you no more than protein.

You can choose what you eat. I'll take a nice fat steak every once and a while that satisfies more than 10 essential nutrients for survival over a nut-sack.
