Honestly though, Icelantic are on point and I think their new boot looks sick.

that boot is ages old. in fact, it's failed twice. once with Line, once with Amplid. I'm sure it'll be no different with Icelantic.

They look, feel, and ski pretty damn well. The Black one is surprisingly stiff (in a good way), and the liner is doope.

Walk mode is somewhat limited, but pretty comparable to other downhill priority boots.

one weird thing: the BSL's are much shorter than average. I have the 27, and the BSL rings in at 299. In a world where the 27.5 boot reigns supreme in demos, tests, etc., you'll actually have to bring a screwdriver. Kinda nit-picky and not performance related whatsoever, just something i noticed.

walk mode is stupid - its a gimmicky feature that is catering to hobbyists, but i guess theres a market for that so if thats the direction they want to go then thats fine.

what?  they're touring boots, when you go up you put it in walk mode and switch to ski mode for going down.  it makes a huge difference having the extra movement.  if by hobbyists you mean people skiing in the backcountry then yes, i suppose they are catering to hobbyists

It's not a gimmicky feature if you frequently tour... Having a greater range of motion allows you to take longer, smoother strides and get where you're going a lot more quickly and efficiently. There's a reason there's a huge market for touring boots and tech bindings.
