Love my surface new lifes but they are slow . . . any suggestions?

I wax them more than any other skis i've owned.

Any suggestions on best wax to use that doesn't have to be replaced so often?

You are scraping your skis after the wax has dried right? Have you maybe though about using a waxing brush as well?

for how slow(and beat up) they are I think I may try the pee method. THanks for the tips. next time I'll post in geartalk

Aha, a mod most have moved it. And yeah, match a wax to your riding temps if you can. Helps a lot.

this is a common thing with surface skis since they use an extruded base which doesnt hold wax well.

have you gotten a full tune? a base grind, edge tune, ptex if you need it and pro hot wax will help

if you don't grind your base, eventually it won't take any wax at all. Your base needs to be porous so that the wax will actually set in the ski, and I'm guessing you don't have a base grinder at home, so do yourself a favour, take them to a shop and get those bitches ground. Good grinders (like a Montana machine) will only take off something like a thousandth of an inch, and you'll no longer have slow skis.

You bought a ski with extruded bases....it will never be as fast as a sintered base. I have to laugh at a ski that sells new for 600 dollars having an extruded base. Really Surface?
