was candide even an option the past two years after winning FWT and releasing the candide kamera edits? those edits were the best segments of the past couple years and i don't even remember him being an option to vote for

I guess no one has seen Few Words besides me.. well, be careful.. It's far from beeing a ski porn type of production, but oh my god... what a magician this Candide. I actually voted for him, i'm 18.

So much this. To those who said they voted Casabon because he released more media content than Candide this year, then why did you vote Casabon over Permin ? Dude has literally made the mountain his bitch this past year, he deserved it so much more than Bdog, his movie segments were just on another level.

How does Tom not have a claim to being in the top 4 skiers of last year!?!?

He put out an insane segment with Level 1 and won basically every contest under the sun. He absolutely dominated the contest scene.

Plus, I voted for Permin in the first round, and then Casabon in next round. I respect Candide, but he hasn't shown me jack all last year and I've Few Words is basically just the trailer, and old footage.

You have a point, for sure. And if you weigh contest results fairly heavily (and there's no reason that they shouldn't be) you're probably right (although in that case where is Bobby).

His stuff with L1P was good and still video-game level stuff but among film parts he wasn't at the top of the pack this year. But he wasn't last year or the year before either and yet he'll always be in the finals of this kind of a contest because it's Tom. It doesn't really matter how he skis, he'll get lots and lots of votes. And it doesn't matter how a guy like, say, Sage skis, because he won't.

If people don't see Candide ski for an entire winter except for a 2 minute trailer and they watch casabon fucking kill it all season and throw one of the sickest dubs ever done then obviously casabon's gonna win. Why the fuck should people vote for candide just because he's one of the best in history? casabon killed it harder in 2012

ermmmmm no just because casabon's footage was released before the competition whereas candides was not does not mean he killed it harder, read the thread dood and go to a few words premiere, i promise that you will have a change of opinion

Honestly, every poll ends up being like this. It is a popularity contest. I like it when the industry votes on SOTY, rather than readers/internet goers.

I personally don't care much, but as evidenced by this thread a lot of people do. If the industry votes at least the bitching is limited a bit.

Oregon and Idaho have good mountains.  It's surprising to see them go with Casabon.

Candide won all the states with good mountains.  That says something.

Very possible.  Very few people have gotten to see what should be a ground breaking film.  Freeskier should have held out.  I guess they have deadlines though.

I won't bother to vote in the last round.  I'll let the kids decide this one, it's their competition anyway.

I grew up skiing lame east coast mountains, but I always wanted to be like the big mountain guys.  I guess things have changed.
