All for the new site set up. News Section does bother me a bit. I really enjoyed having the lastest news on the homepage. Could we at least have a "latest" section under the news tab instead of "top rated". News is meant to be an up to date representation and critique of what is going on in current events not a popularity contest.
Completely agree with this. I haven't read 1 news article on this website since the layout changed, mostly because I dont know where it is and dont have the time to search around for ir
Just click 'news' in the top nav you'll see it there.
The biggest reason that news hasn't been getting viewed is that there hasn't been a ton of popular stuff added. If a news article gets upvotes, it pins right to the top. Look at the tanner hall one right now, its doing fairly well.
The biggest thing about the new system is that if there isn't something that everyone is stoked on, it won't show up. So everything at the top is quality, and if there isn't a news article up there there isn't good news right now.
Yes this is true... but News views have been falling since about 2009.
THe key to the new system is that if there isn't really good news... well then none of it shows up. If there is rad stuff, its pinned right to the top. (Tanner yesterday, Voleurz today).
There are a few people (god bless you fine soldiers) who browse the newest news and give it those critical first upvotes to decide what shows and what doesn't.
TL;DR - If there isn't good news at the top, that means that there is a better photo, video or forum thread today.
