On April 18 of this year I had surgery for a torn ACL/PCL. I used a hamstring graft for my ACL and a cadaver for the PCL. I worked my ass off in PT and when I had out grown PT i hit the gym pretty hard. Did tons of squats, dead lifts, you get the idea. I got a donjoy defiance 3 brace two weeks ago, and while I can see why some people dont like to wear a brace; It makes my leg feel so much more stable and gives me a little extra confidence.
Yesterday, I went skiing. And god damn did it feel good! No pain at all, my leg didnt feel weak or anything. I am fucking pumped at how well everything went.
So for everyone going through the recovery process, you will get there. You just gotta work hard and really listen to what your physical therapists and surgeon tell you. As long as your really trying your hardest you will be back on the snow in no time. I would recommend a brace, but hey, to each his own.
