Hey guys so here's my info: I'm looking for a pair of skis that are around 92mm underfoot so that when I go outwest I can ski more comfortably on the powder. However I also would like it to be able to perform in park so I've done some research and found that the Line Chronic and the Armada ARV look pretty good to me budget wise and spec wise. However the chronic has early rise and the ARV dose not. I'm ~6'1 and 170lbs I will be using them on days where we get our little east coast pow dumps and in deeper pow outwest as well as in tree runs. They need to last me a couple years. I'm an advanced skier. Which ski do you think will perform better for what I wan't it to do aswell as last longer? P.S my apologies for wall of text I'm on mobile
The ARV will get rocker in them by the end of the season. The arv is so buttery in the nose and are stiff under foot with a just stiff enough tail.Don't have much experience with the chronics other than flexing them in the shop and they are overall stiffer than the chronics. They both are bomber proof. I have Thalls that have been through 3 seasons and they haven't snapped on me and K2's build is pretty bomb proof.
The question really is do you want a stiffer flex or a softer flex.
Don't know if this will be relevant. I had 2008 ARV's. They had tip rocker that looked like early rise, developed after a while. They became flat underfoot. They were also noodles. Don't know if they have changed the construction since then, but that was my experience with them. Didn't really like them
After some use and I feel like happen too soon they loose their camber and the tips kinda get early rise like the guy above me mentioned. The same thing happened with my thalls.
Ok so I ordered chronics but it turns out they are out of stock. Id rather buy from my shop instead of online. SO I've changed my mind they dont need to be 92mm underfoot or around there but I'd prefer if they were over 87mm Underfoot.
I read your comment and you said "what skis" and I'm saying if you get the chronics you will not regret it ask your shop of they can get them and buy through them
They why can I order them directly from line but your shop can't? Either way I'd say just order them off the Internet even if you don't want to. If you get them you will not be disappointed
Oh it's showing that I can buy any size. But whatever I still think if you have a pair of skis that can be used in the mean time I'd hold out for the chronics
Get the arv's man, just watch a day in the life with edollo, they look like so much fun and are usable all over the mountain, plus sick park skis for buttering around. It's been proven that if you use arvs you will butter dub 10.
The Blend is a lot closer to the ARV than the Chronic. Soft tip and Tail but fairly solid underfoot. Chronics are mid flex pretty much all the way through the ski, more or less a park ski with a little all mountain ability.
Of the two I'd take the ARV for an all mountain ski.
I have mine mounted center and ski the same ratios as you. they still carve very well, but I don't know about pow if you think it's that big a deal for the whole week go 2 back for true center
I have owned arvs and skied on my buddy's cronics, the arvs are the bomb, can't get a better ski for what ur talking about, I also live on the east coast and skied new Hampshire every weekend, great ski for everything, the park they handle well and on some cord they feel nice, the cronics are kinda weird imo idk but they feel like ur only skiing on like the middle part of the ski under ur boot, def get the arvs u will not regret them
How much pow do you really get to ski? I mean if its a few days a year, but you ski park all season, I'd suffer the centre mount for the improved balance in the park. I liked centre on groomed on this ski, it's only pow it will negatively affect. Bare in mind they aren't exactly going to rule pow at -2 or -4 though, they are still basically a park ski.
In my experience, not at all. -2 will actually put your balance point closer to the center of the ski than a true center mount. This is because the mount is measured from the center of the boot, whereas your balance point is actually a bit more forward, under the ball of your foot. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, -2 is my park mount and I really like it.
