I mean this in a great way, but this is the epitome of white people problems.

That said, rather than remount your Vicik skis and having to make a bunch of new holes/mess with your mounting point, just throw the Dynalook on your incoming skis. You can use the Viciks for slackcountry and what-have-you.

On the topic of bindings i could use an opinion. Right now I have a beat to shit, basically broken, pair of Barons on my Bibby's that could use replacing. I'm thinking of going up to '11/12 dukes (improved AFD plate) in the existing holes. My other though was maybe to get newer Tour 12's with inserts for actual touring to save weight, then mount an alpine binding (probably fks 155's), again with inserts, farther up for inbounds.

I'm not really sure how much touring I'll get in this year being in Toronto and my christmas and winter break plans are up in the air, but I am looking at moving to Chile for next summer. Right now dukes seem like the most logical and affordable option. Tech bindings aren't for me right now, but a light frame could be a good option for dedicated tour days, side country you can generally get away with boot packing at least in Whistler.

Before you get deep into a set up.
Get educated with knowledge of backcountry terrain, avalanche safety, etc....
No one will want to go out with you if you don't have the training.

Aside from that; this thread can be a good place to ask questions.

110 will be fine, the rule of thumb for minimal skin width is your underfoot width. I prefer to go with my tail width for a bit more grip but to each his own.

Here. Just read through the thread and ask if you have any questions. This thread somehow seems to be (in a good way) lacking most of the senseless hate that the rest of NS seems to be plagued by.

Just picked up my Moment Bibbys after getting them Mounted with Guardian 13's. Definitely heavy but I'm not a weight weeny and they're gunna slay so hard. I'd rather suffer up and get a good workout to enjoy the down. Gotta find some skins for 'em now.

Back from an overnight trip into the wilderness of alta Norway. Day one was more recon on snow conditions and where it was deep enough. We found good shots of 300meters or so then day two was a few runs of 8 inches blower at about 25 degree on blue bird. Skiing back to camp was sort of survival skiing due to low snow and the parts that were skiable were so wind fucked. Overall an amaizng start.

Assuming you mean BD Ascensions. Unless G3 is about to be sued for trademark infringement. I think I'm gonna get some G3 MoMixes - they're cheap and the clips are a good design.

day one was more a recon mission to find the good snow but we were able to ski about 400 meters total of some windbuffed snow. day two brought more pow and we got a 400 meter stretch of 25-30 degree pitch of 8 inches of blower. unfortunately no pictures were taken of that:( this is all skiing around in finnmark norway. about 70 degrees north.

setting up camp at about 200 meters in the midst of some amazing peaks all around us. great first few days of the season.

leaving camp, the peak pictured is not our goal but is the first top we get to. we skinned up along the ridge in the picture and over the peak. peak is about 900 meters. later in the winter we will be back for some couloir action of the front.

gaining the ridge we were engulfed in cloud cover, with about 400 meters still to climb we hoped to get above the clouds...

I also have a question about boots. Iv got above average hairy legs and after skiing for a while I ten to get rid of quiet a bit of hair on my shins through touring. Anyone have solutions to this? Iv heard shave and different liners but both of those are not ideal for me.

Maybe try different socks. This happens to me in some of my running socks on the top of my feet and it hurts after long runs, only on some socks though and in my ski socks it doesn't happen at all. I've got smartwool ski socks.

I have hairy legs too and have the same problem. I have a spot on the outside of my calfs/shins where there is no hair on either of my legs but tons of manly hairiness everywhere else. It looks pretty funny when I'm wearing shorts. No solution though.

There is no solution aside from shaving your legs. Spots that see repeated heavy wear WILL rub the hair right off. Nothing you can do really.

Eventually, after much blood and gnashing of teeth it gives up and you just get a shiny hairless spot. At least that's what happened to me. The girlfriend thinks it's hilarious.

this conversation needs to switch gears again. Who's planning hut trips or other overnight camping experiences this winter?
Spent the night at the Ski Cabin in the Gros Ventre range East of Jackson Hole last night. I'll be headed out there more and hope to complete other stayover missions in the Tetons WY, Wind River Range WY, Beartooths WY/MT, and Tobacco Range MT to name a few...

I'm doing a backcountry/medic course in Norway this winter so I will be spending 20+ nights camping all over northern Norway and Sweden. So stoked. It's gona be a long two or three months of darkness though haha.

Just bought Tracker 16 bindings for my Chetler with G3 alpinist skins 180-190cm and 130mm waist. I am considering taking them to a shop to get mounted, but want to make sure thats necessary. Right now there are marker griffins on the skis mounted for the same bsl. Any links on doing it myself?

Unless I'm doing inserts, I like to use mounts as a way to throw a couple bucks to my local shop. If you don't have a great shop you care about local then yes, do them yourself.

Sorry forgot to include link to paper templates... It's a ink to TGR, but this thread has a shitload of patterns in it, just make sure you're scaling your printer properly and that you are ANAL about lining the templates up. QUADROUPLE check them before you drill if you're going to do them yourself.

OP is Jondrums, who is the father of the binding freedom inserts and plates in case you were wondering and yes, it really is 32 pages long.

IMO the biggest thing to keep in mind is that real jigs are designed to prevent you from drilling straight through the core of the ski. I've seen people bring skis they tried to mount themselves into the shop I used to work at where they drilled straight through the bases.
