So as many of you know I'm different then a lot of people on here. I used to try and blend in as best I could and be like everyone else, but I wasn't being true to myself. Finally decided that it's alright to be different. We all come from different places and we are who we are. Admitting my difference was a big step for me. Also was happy to find out I wasn't alone in this inner struggle.
The Negatives:
I see lots of things posted that just aren't my set of interests. I understand that the world and def this site can't just be catered to people like me, but it's hard sometimes. You kind of feel like an outcast amongst people you would think you would have something in common with an extent. I still find things posted on this site that are pretty offensive but it's not as bad as looking at some of the old threads.
The Positives:
We've come a long way as far as tolerance. I don't see the clash like there used to be. If it was still a war on here I'd probably be more likely to hide. It's scary to come out and admit that you're different. It takes a lot of balls to be able to openly say that you aren't like everyone else. (That really opens you up on a personal level and gives people the chance to take cheap shots at you.)Glad people have been accepting of myself and others on here.
On an end note:
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's been supportive of me and others. I know we have things in different but we also have a lot in common. It's great that these days, knuckle draggers and two plankers can finally get along. There's still drama between us but I feel things have grown a lot more mellow.
I think the fact that we both just want to go and have fun in the park with our friends sort of gives us the opportunity to cross those lines drawn by society and see each other as people.
I just want to say thanks to those people that have helped to bridge the gap between our worlds and get us closer together. It's really great to see so much progress in the world.
