ReturnToMonkeyWhy do my two bass strings vibrate so much? Whenever I pluck them with any strength, they begin vibrating against something hella. The neck and bridge look straight. I can't shake it and hear any loose parts within the guitar. Anyone know what else I should try?

theabortionatorFinally popped my open mic cherry tonight. Was a really good experience.
Scary af but good. Just getting out and doing in in general but got good feedback and people liked my songs.
Gives me more confidence to go back. Met some cool people, saw some talented people. Good vibes.
Jemsgood for you man that shits really intimidating
theabortionatorThanks man. Yeah for sure. There were a lot of people and a lot of good musicians. The guy came up and asked if I still wanted to play because it was getting late. Could have easily bailed. Glad i didnt.
Hopefully will start feeling less terrified each time.
Helps to have done it once at least and also now know a few people there
Jemsgets less scary the more you do it, especially if you're playing in a group of people. I actually love the nervous feeling you get when performing cause there's nothing like it.
theabortionatorYeah I figured. Felt pretty cool though. After sitting and watching a bunch of good people play, and ready feeling anxious that day unrelated to the open mic. Def was scary. Place was packed. All strangers.
Felt good to follow through with it and play. Def going to go every week while im up here. Met some cool people got some good feedback. One of the guys wants to help me record one of my songs so thats sweet. Just garage vibe thing but i suck at figuring that shit out by myself.
Was cool talking to some of the people that played though. Ine of the guys used to play guitar and stopped for years, but his gf convinced him to start playing so they could sing together and stuff. He said first week he was really scared and now the place is like church.
Def seems like a good vibe between the people. Def better if you dont suck, but i feel like theyd still be supportive if you did. Especially if you came back and did better.
Idk it was a really positive experience for me. The guitar has really changed my life these last 2 years. Sounds cheesy but i really did find it when i needed it most. Quarantine would have been rough for me withour it. And even life in general. Music is fucking awesome
Ryancavanaugh-Did you sing as well? I jam with some kids and we wanna start playing at parties this summer. I don’t see myself getting too nervous about the guitar aspect but more trying to sing because I was kinda voted into being the one to and I suck lol. We could always just jam too but I feel like that might get boring to most if there’s no singing/ something to sing to

theabortionatorJust sing some songs youre all familiar with that are easy. Just do it. Def makes sense getting nervous but only way to get more comfy is to do it. Start with in your group and then see how it goes.
I feel you thow its hard. I was super scared honestly. Buddy was saying its the busiest open mic he's seen there too whoch didn't help. But yeah you go thos. Jist start small. Sing by yourself playing, sing with your friends, maybe you'll get comfy enough to try and sing in front of more people.
Ryancavanaugh-Def needed to hear this, best way to practice is do it as much as you can like you said. But for tips Is there anyway that helped make your voice sound better? Damn dude mad props to you for getting up there I’d be shitting my pants lmao

Jemsgod i need to play in a punk or metal band
Deez_McskisSame dude i wanna play metallica and megadeth covers with a drummer and bassist as well.
Ryancavanaugh-How do you guys decide on a guitar color wise if it ever comes down to it for you? Looking to pick up a fender Strat just so many colors so overwhelming
Jemsi care a little more about specs than the look, but i usually prefer solid colors over any of the special veneer shit ibanez or gibson does. my first guitar i bought was a show off looking indonesian ibanez and i’ve grown to despise it.
Ryancavanaugh-Yeah Im looking at all the same strat model so the specs are the same but prob gonna go with something classic like Olympic white, sunburst or black
JemsI loooooove white Strats
theabortionatorAlso was kind of cool that one of the people I didn't know came up to me because it inspired him to make this sort of trippy deal. Still don't have a name for the song and probably won't call it heart of America but who knows. But i like the effort.
CaseyThat’s pretty cool man, I am cool as a cucumber to play backup guitar at open mic but if they asked me to sing I would run away.
theabortionatorFriend took a quick video from tonight. Nice to be back around playing music here again

TheHamburglarWho here has or knows about steel resonators?
I'm newly super into the grass and want a nice resonator for slidin pickin and grinnin
I've done some research but someone here probably has some good experience with the diff types and brands. What do yall suggest?
Gourdhad to leave my bass and drums when I moved, luckily I still have my guitar. I miss beating on the drums, it was a great outlet for frustration
JemsDRUMS LITERALLY THE HIGHEST QUALITY METHOD OF RELEASING STRESS, GETTING EXERCISE, AND HAVING FUN AT THE SAME TIME
theabortionatorOrdered a new Martin from Sweetwater yesterday. Pretty hyped
CaseyThat’s exciting. What’d you get?
theabortionatorMartin d12 acoustic electric. Pretty hyped honestly. Will be sweet to be able to play plugged in more so it doesn't sound weird to me when I play. Also can loop and jam over shit.
Gonna be sick! Also bought it from Sweetwater so should be good to go. They do a pretty good job about checking things out and shipping properly.
CaseyThose look sick I’ve never heard one IRL post it up when it arrives
theabortionatorGuitar needs some repairs. Old ass guitar. Tuning pegs are fucked. Haven't had a geetar this week. Been noticeably sad about it :(
