theabortionatorHopefully I can find a place to play loudly that isn't freezing this winter. I'll have 3 days off a week, so might even just drive out of the mountains one of those days to skate and play.
Worst case ontario will probably play in my car. Would be cool if I can find a building that's not being used to play in. Will def play in my room but just gonna finger pick and sing quietly. But even then to anxious to really make much for sounds.
Idk, I just wanna play every day. Shits exciting and I'm not even good at it.
Digging the small breakthroughs though and just love every time I touch the thing and can play some songs badly. Now I know enough songs where I can rotate them a bit. It got a little annoying when I kind of knew like part of 1-3 songs and that was all I had to play. Even just playing random chord progressions and scales is fun.
Guitars are friggin dope. Prolly gonna sell my electric drum kit. I don't think I'm going to play it much anymore.
Bushdid9_11I'm doing van life this year and its been tough finding spots to play. I like to play standing up but when its warm and dry enough outside I wanna be doing outdoor stuff. Usually universities are friendly jam spots but worried about getting kicked out for covid reasons. good luck man
theabortionatorJust accidentally learned that riptide song( not a big fan of it though) and freefallin.
Neither are hard songs. But was just cool to be like oh this be a song. It's crazy how much chords dictate a song. Like it's just some notes, but you play a certain progression and you instantly know what song it is and are singing along.
Really hope I can find a place to play this winter. I will absolutely sit in my god damn car and play though sometimes if that's all I got. A place where I can play loud and sing my goddamn little heart out.
TheMailManNext up is John Mayer's Free Fallin', especially the intro. Not overly tricky but just sounds godly.
snowmosexualI've been working on jerry pickin since I have no band and don't see myself getting in one anytime soon. I've got deep river blues by doc watson down and freight train by Elizabeth cotton down aswell. Working on Signe by Eric Claption and deep elm blues
theabortionatorI will give it a listen. And people can say what they want about john mayer but dude fucking shreds.
TheMailManHe's one of the best guitar player's (and musician's in general) in recent history. Fact.
doubleblackjack1Tosin abasi tops that list 100%
BraybladeGuitar is a great hobby and an even better way to waste time. I started playing roughly 2 years ago and I have taught myself most of what I know and had some help from friends that are much better players than I am. I try to play every day and I have recently been learning how to use modes but its a bit too confusing for me rn
TheMailMansaid literally nobody ever
doubleblackjack1John mayer is an amazing player dont get me wrong, but Tosin plays the guitar like a machine
Mr.MittenExactly, a machine haha, dude's an animal but I would much rather hear John play The Dead or blues than Tosin shred up and down the neck. I'm struggling to come up with the correct verbiage to describe how Mayer plays, but it soulful. I am also in the camp that John Mayer is probably one of the best guitarists alive, and is absolutely one of the best players of our generation.

TheMailManJust stop. What your saying is literally the equivalent of saying Andri Ragettli is the best skier in history because he can throw a quad Cork.

doubleblackjack1tosin is just different though. If i wanted to listen to blues rock i could listen to srv or hendrix or eric johnson. Sorry that i hurt your feelings

theabortionatorRoommate plays so weve been jamming a little bit. Still pretty wonky but getting better at playing with people. Less anxious about it. We've gotten into a few decent jams.
steezboxOver the years I've realized that playing with others is exactly like having conversations with people you have different comfort levels with. And as soon as you start to not care as much it becomes much easier and you end up surprising yourself with the things you come up with. The more anxious you awe the more you hold back, at least for me. Do it more and it just becomes natural and you give less a shit trying new things. I miss playing with people :(
KaneDogJust went in on a Silver Sky this fall, the payments aren't fun but man the natural reverb and playability of this thing are all I've wanted in a guitar. Been trying to find people to jam with in breckenridge if anyone is in the area!
Jemsive been trying to make indie music with my explorer that has EMGs and its pretty hard to get a good clean tone if at all fuck this man I need a strat

theabortionatorBeen fucking with some mellow bluegrass shit today. Been using a pick more the last couple months and starting to feel comfortable picking around. Figured getting some nice little bluegrass songs down would help.
Also been playing scaled more, but not nearly enough.
I don't really care. Still having fun playing.
