well we cant just let the kids miss it and make up the work. Thats not FAIR to the other kids who dont get off. And we need to make sure every student is treated fairly. So thats out.

Haven't other districts done this without consequence? I would bet the school district in Dearborn, MI does. You also have to look at it from their standpoint where they probably get Christmas and Easter off.
