Canon t3i and Glidecam HD1000

I have a Glidecam HD1000 and I'm considering upgrading my camera to a t3i. Is the HD1000 big enough for the t3i?

I have an HD-1000 and T3i and Tokina 11-16 f2.8 (which is a tank of a lens) and it works great. You'll be fine with that setup. If you're going to be using a microphone and battery back as well, look at the HD-2000

Thanks! Yeah, I bought the HD1000 for my smaller camcorder. I don't think I'll need a battery back, but a microphone would be a nice addition. Do you think I'd still be able to manage with the HD1000. The only other option would be selling the HD1000 and buying an HD2000, which would be a hassle. I've seen footage with the Tokina 11016 f2.8 and it is incredible. Definitely going to be my first lens purchase.

if you're going to get the microphone and tokina, get a HD-2000, i'm barely pushing the weight limit without it, and the microphone might just be the push to make it not work.

on the other hand, there are two ways around this problem.

1. film audio separately. you can get away just fine without audio in videos if you've got an engaging song. you can always just film an audio lap or two separately so you have a bunch of "stock" sounds of a skier going off the jump, grinding rails, landing, etc.

2. i don't really recommend but if you're down for a project and want to see how it goes, you could always find a way to mount a microphone on the bottom of the glidecam. like, improvise and make a hot shoe type clip on the underside of the baseplate that you could attach the mic to. this would allow you to place the other stuff on the top and not worry about overweighing the top.

I don't own a glide cam, but if a mic is going to be to heavy why can't you add a small extra weight to the bottom and you wouldn't have to put the mic on the bottom

well i don't suggest it because it'll most likely throw the balance off a little. but if you were to just add weights to the bottom to compensate for the mic on top, it would be funky because you'd be overloading on the top, and even though you evened it out on the bottom, it wouldn't work perfectly because it would be over the weight limit.

the mic on the bottom thing was only a suggestion if he wanted a project to toy around with
