The war is going pretty well, man, thanks for asking. We're seeing a good amount of action and getting used quite a bit, although it has slowed in the last few weeks but that is to be expected as the fighting season winds down.

Bump on an old thread. Along with the original post I am also curious about how many days you guys get in throughout a season. Also where you ski at, perhaps we could get a NS military group together to ride. (Outside of the super regimented SMP or something along those lines.)

Fail at my own post.

I ski at Mt. High mostly in Socal (That's where i'm stationed). The mountain is really small, but they have good park feaures and the pass was really cheap.

I also have a Tahoe local pass and stay at my buddies in Incline Village to ride mostly Northstar. I go up there on leave or 96's.

Trained with Canadians back in March. Pretty chill guys, knew their stuff. Wish I remember the exact unit they were from, but they were all airborne.

Navy Veteran. Did 4 years in the Seabees and got out as a LS3. Stationed out of Mississippi. Deployed for 10 months to South Korea in 09/10 which was bad ass and a tour in Iraq...best times down in New Orleans.

In college now collecting that rent money!!

Vision is too bad to fly though. Wouldnt be able to until I turn 21 and get lasik

I need to find Jerry Eversmuyer again. He is my best friend growing up's dad and was a seargeant major in the marines during the late 90s then moved away right before high school. When a 6'7" sajmaj catches you drinking at age 13 you are terrified fwi hahaha

It's selective but not that selective. Just do well on the flight aptitude test, have a good physical profile (good vision and no colorblindness)  and it helps to know some Warrant Officers.

It might not be that selective after you graduate from West Point after being selected for West Point only after a governor recommendation..

When it comes to aviation you can go in as any rank. I'm actually trying to get a warrant packet together just to see how it goes, don't really care if I get selected or not. It's selective, but not as selective as say becoming a fighter pilot. Just don't be color blind as have good vision before correction.

Maybe the guy who flies Kiowas can chime in.

Hahaha I feel you there. I'd rather smash my dick with a sledgehammer than reenlist to stay in my current unit/mos. Even if I was to get selected for warrant school I would have to think long and hard about doing it.

You have to have 20/150 uncorrected in the army.
And LASIK counts. So if I get LASIK and it's better than 20/150 there's no problem. If it's between 20/20 and 20/150 you can wear glasses or contacts flying in the army

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even getting a slot to have a chance at going to pilot training must be earned. Then you have to pass Initial Flight Screening, then you go to pilot training and have to make it through that program. I was pointing out that pilot slots typically aren't just handed out because you passed the medical exam.

This is all Air Force related as well, if you were talking about Army or something I have no idea.

And for those worried about eyesight, there are several avenues to look into to correct it. PRK is an acceptable method and tons of pilots wear glasses too. Don't give up on the thought just because you have bad eyes.

4 or 6 were my options. 6 gets me e-3 out of basic so I get more pay, another stripe and will increase rank faster.

Also opens me up to some signing bonuses depending on the AFSF I chose, didnt matter unless I wash out of this one which isnt really an option.

That's pretty much me. My Right eye is pretty much blind and my left its perfect
. I had a lot of ear infections as a kid and they strained my optical muscles my dr. Was tellin me. So that explains that I guess. I only get to wear one contact.
