Like boots, with helmets, the best one is the one that fits your head. Obviously, there are some that protect better than others, but a helmet that protects amazingly, but falls of your head doesn't do you any good. Personally, I think POC makes excellent helmets with great protection, if they fit your head properly they're probably the top of the line (they're very popular with professional racers, and those guys go fast).
anybody know what company puts the most R&D into their helmets? I'm assuming who ever puts the most time in is going to make the best helmet to protect my head and I assume they would go above what the test is. I'm thinking poc puts the most R&D out of any company
POC and Bern both put in a lot of time, especially since helmets are their main product.
What you want to look for is a multi-impact helmet, but more importantly you want the thick hard foam core, not squishy (like the padding can be squishy, but the part attached to the outer plastic should be a hard styrofoam looking material (but it's not styrofoam).
Bought the POC receptor bug. Its got a ton of protection, hard outer shell and another shell on top of the foam on the inside. They run small or I have a big head. The XXL barely fits my head and that's without wearing a hat under it. I don't wear a hut under my helmet anyway but if you do buy big.
