great band. call me a hipster but idc there sound is awesome. saw them at outsidelands this summer and they played a bunch of new shit nobody had ever heard before.
^ this is so true. I wouldnt even call them indie anymore i have heard little talks on the radio wayyyy to many times. Plus i saw them on mtv so thats going pretty mainstream. They are doing well though so good on em
on that note
fav music choice and fav trailer for this year
yeah i saw em at osheaga, sounded absolutely amazing live. much better than studio and that definitely does not apply to all bands.
my one beef with monsters and men is that they really are a mix of Edward Sharpe and Mumford & Sons. that being said, a damn good mix. i like em lol and theyre from iceland which is cool (get it lol)
maybe i'm a hipster just like everyone else, but i think this band is just another one of these indie bands with one or two good songs but are overall pretty meh. indie's becoming just like any other kind of pop music, based around making radio singles, but i'm going to forget about all these bands in a year. gimme the national, gimme yeasayer, gimme all of these great bands that have nothing but good songs, but almost never get airtime.
I listened to the album so much when it first came out that I got tired of it in less than a month. I enjoy them it it comes up on shuffle or something but I wouldn't listen to the whole album through. I have the CD in my car.. It doesn't find it's way into the player too often.
Are you kidding. You clearly haven't listened to the whole album. Every single song on this album is incredibly awesome. It's rare that a band makes an album where every single song absolutely rules (see Arcade fire).
OMAM clearly cares a lot about music and they love what they do, its clear when you watch live footage of them.
i would love to have a conversation with you about of monsters and men, grouplove and los campesinos and why they're better than what i listen to, but i wouldn't, so i won't.
went to their show on saturday at tower theatre in upper darby (philly)..it was bangin except i thought it was gonna be a bunch of like hipsters and young ppl and it was the most diverse crowd ive ever seen..there were 6 year olds and 60 year olds no joke..i thought everyone there would be stoned but once i got there i felt like i was the only person stoned lol
