Dropping out of school

First of all I really Fucking hate school. I really want to get out and see the world and would like to ski as much as possible. The job I would like to see outside of highschool (welding) does not require a highschool diploma only a G.E.D and I have taken practice tests and I do very well. I just don't know how to go about this whole thing help me NS!

You can choose whatever you want to do, but I would strongly advise not doing that. You'll be stuck, unless you want to retake high school.

Yeaaaaa.... HS isnt that fucking hard. Finish it cause if you dont you wont get a job that pays more than $20 dollars an hour if you are lucky. Sounds like a lot of money now when ur 16/17. But when you have a family enjoy living in a shithole.

You can only ski if you have money. To make money you need a job. To have a job you need qualifications, and a G.E.D. does not cut it may places. Good luck though man!

man the way I look at it, is you've spent at least 10 years in school already, I would definitely say it is worth your while to get your diploma you're almost done anyway.

first reply is right. it may seem like the a good idea now, but later on you will really wish you had stayed and the only way to avoid that situation is to stay in school now. its worth it.

Dude it's really not that bad, you've made it this far in school. Just stick it out a little bit longer and you won't have to regret the decision for the rest of your life. You'll graduate high school at 18. That's still really fucking young to go explore the world and ski a shit ton. Don't screw yourself over. When you're 70 and you look back on your life the extra half mile in the marathon that is your education will seem like nothing in the grand scheme of things. Just finish up; it's not that bad.

^ Not necessarily. Most of the time yes, but not always. That's like people assuming you have to go to college. I do think it's kind of retarded to be in school from the time you're 4 or 5 and then drop out on your last year. Honestly doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But if somehow you had something sweet lined up or you're able to drop out earlier than whatever. Just makes more sense if it's your senior year to suck it up and finish.

Don't do it. If college isn't your thing, then so be it. But you really can't do much without a high school diploma. After your name and info, high school is the first thing they ask on a lot of entry job apps. It would really suck to have to put down N/A for that shit.

Also, how old are you, 17? One more year in school won't suck as bad as you think. You got a lot of life ahead of you, so just finish what you started. You'll thank yourself for sticking with it down the road.

dude, you will most certainly regret that decision for the rest of your life. while a G.E.D is basically the same on paper, it's not the same in the real world. in the real world, it says that you couldn't even manage to finish the easiest fucking thing possible....high school. you had to take the easy way out. you have the rest of your life to ski, travel the world, etc. finish up your last year or two, and then explore those options. i absolutely 1000000% guarantee that you will not regret the decision.

now i know hs blows while you're there, and everyone is in such a hurry to get out, but once you do, you're slapped with the real world. enjoy the rest of your time there. make the most of it. but please, heed my advice when I say finish it. you'll think back on this in 10 years and be glad you did. trust me.

Dropping out to ski and see the world. Fuck, you probably don't have the funds to get very far, you probably aren't even 18 yet. Good luck with that.


There's a fuck ton of time to see the world and ski. A lot of people don't ski everyday after highschool. They get jobs or go to college. It's not like the world is fucking you over by holding you in school most of the week.


High school is fucking easy.

As far as welding.

Do you actually know anything about it? Have you done it? Are you going to go to a trade school to learn it? What's your big plan?


And the G.E.D. is easy as fuck




Lol at anyone leaving after like 12 years of school right at the end because they're too much of a pussy to finish high school. Travel the world, ski a lot, and maybe become a welder.

Honestly, if you're gonna weld... Go for it and drop out, I know a bunch of rednecks from my town who weld and they were all super-seniors (had 2 or 3 extra years of HS) Because they were dumb as a rock. But welding is a good career path and pays a lot, my school offers the choice of being bused away half way through the day to a community college where you can learn to weld or machine which is a pretty sick opportunity.

Sorry it feels like everyone is lecturing you haha.

But really man, as teenagers we all have ideas of what we want to do in life. And right now your vision is to ski, chill, live your own life. But I almost guarantee that its gonna be more complicated than that, and when shit starts to get real your're gonna want to have a solid education and job to get you through the tough times.


We arent saying you need to get a job on wall street and go to college, but being a young adult is such a small window in our life, yet it affects us so much. So stick it out for now, your future self will thank you

Go to a trade school at least. They'll set you up with connections in the industry and training on how to begin your own business. <---- Welding wise

Side-note: not condoning dropping out, but I know an underwater welder who works for a petroleum company and he makes BANK. Something to look into.

stay in school, graduate, go get your welding ticket/training then go to some shitty camp like Fort McMurray for 6-10 months of the year where you do pipe fitting for gas lines or on some oil rig or pressure welding and make well over 100k a year or be a mutha fuckin bau$$ and become a deep sea welder and you will be the pimp of the hard labour world.

Just because you "think" you want to be a welder doesn't mean you always will. And how do you expect to pay for traveling, skiing and (if you choose to have one) a family on a welder's salary. If you ask me you sound like an immature little twit and you're going to end up in a trailer park with 10 kool aid mouthed brats and a wife named candy.

If you drop out of school then you will drastically limit what you can so in the future. There won't be many options for you of welding doesn't work out or if you change you mind.
