Avila: 2012 - 2013

This is an attempt to revive the cult. Now I get all my MSS snow park news from the facebook page, but I liked the updates and discussions this forum provided.

From what I've gathered on facebook, this could be Avila's best park to date.. Anyone else think so? Excited? Comments?

Was debating getting an Avila pass this season. Might just hit up a night pass or 5 days / 7 evenings pass. I ride Tremblant but if I could find some people to shred with a couple evenings I might pick up something at Avila.

Haven't checked their Facebook, what they predicting for this winter that gives you such high hopes for their park this season?

I'll be there almost every Friday/Saturday/Sunday plus some week days if I can manage it. And I'm always looking for new people to ski with..

Last year's park was somewhat of a disappointment, and a lot have defected to Tremblant, Bromont, etc. as a result. So this season they put some local riders in -at least partial- charge (such as Marty Boulais, D Brown and Zach Aller) of the park build. So the new 'cool/in touch with locals' park crew combined with new features all make me hopeful about this year's park.

Looks promising.

Granted the park is better this year and I can find some people to chill and shred, I'd be interested in hitting it up every so often.

The way things are looking I'll be doing a fair share of Ice Coasting.. But that may not be such a bad thing..

Guess that means I'm picking up my pass this week. Anyone know when they are setting up the park at Avila? Last time I checked they had some features set up at Sauveur but my pass won't be any good for there.

They're opening up the 'special feature' (which is the staircase/closeout pictured above) on Saturday the 22nd. Park pass is mandatory, kind of lame but I guess you have to buy it sooner or later.

They opened up the other half of the park above the big jump line. Starts with a double elbow rail, flat-drop-flat round rail and i the other section there's that wide metal flat box, a round urban style down rail, a decently sized round up rail, the metal canon box, a high tube rail, an up staircase with up rails on both sides to flat to another staircase with a downrail and a down metal box.

The staircases are pretty close together though so it's kind of awkward..

Are you more of a big jump guy, or the small line?

I dont have metal balls so I stick to the small line, and they were really great last weekend. Great shape and they were mellow/ no icy with the new snow.

For the big ones, they look really clean to, people hitting them looked like they were having a great time. They shaped them recently so they look more of a step-up. Do I really need to say they are fucking huge lol
