Programs that won't respond (please help with my computer) +k

So I have an iMac 27" mid 2011
w/ a..
2.7 GHz Intel core i5 processor
32gb 1333 MHz DDR3 memory
AMD Radeon HD 677oM 512MB graphics card
It is running OSX 10.8.2
and has 717 GB free out of the 1TB (I keep all my video stuff on a hard drive) on the built in Hard drive

I'm running dual monitors on the machine if that makes a difference, and The only upgrade I've done is put 32 gigs of ram in.

So now that Ive listed that stuff I am having a problem running any of my adobe CS6 software. All of this software was purchased (not tormented) and I have all the original install discs.

The problem im having is that when I start up a software for example premiere I can edit for maybe 5 minutes before it goes into a freeze and I have to force quit it and it says that it is not responding.

I'm not sure what the problem is or if there is anything I can do to fix it but I could definately use some help!!!

This happens to me too all the time when im editing and multitasking (say have a ton of windows open in chrome and have ae and pp open) but im on a pc. It's not nearly as powerful as that one, but i don't think it has to do with its speed and all (i could be totally wrong though). Usually not 5 mins in, more often once im like 20-30 mins in and have a lot of shots on the timeline. Does anyone know why this happens? I don't really understand what it even means to 'not respond', is there a way to fix this? (other than saving your work frequently in case it doesnt respond and crashes.

something might be weird with the install.....

im on a pc laptop and i have the same processor (2.7 i5) and leave photoshop, lightroom and illustrator all open for hours at time while surfing the web or playing video games. (also do it with premiere sometimes when i forget its open)

the only time that i have problens is when lightroom is already open and i plug in my camera and it tries to auto import.....


if i were you i would just uninstall it, defrag/ clean up your hard drive and reinstall it.

I've had that problem with Premiere CS6 on Windows 7, though even without things running. I fixed it by running the program as an admin. It also will correctly autosave if it wasn't before. You can right-click the shortcut file you use to start the program, click on properties, select the compatibility tab, then check the box at the bottom that says "Run this program as an administrator". That will run it as admin every time you start the program using that shortcut.

Premiere CS6 was the only Adobe program that gave me that problem. If this doesn't fix it, I'm not sure what else to try. Google is your friend.

Ok cool guys. glad to here it might not be my computer. Im gonna try and reinstall the software tonite

Hey to any one else who has this problem on mac, I figured it out. I cleared the p ram (shut down computer, start up, hold command+option+p+r, hear start chime x2, release) and I also reset the SMC (shut down, unplug back form wall, wait 15 sec, plug in, wait 5 sec, turn on)

These two things have sped it up immensely and also keep your desktop clear!!!
