Relocating across Canada

Last summer I packed my shit in a storage unit and searched for a better life (and deeper snow) in British Columbia and I have found the perfect place in Nelson. I signed the lease and went back to work. 4 months later I need to move my shit across Canada, but I dont have 3,000$ to waste. I have been searching the web, but I am finding it hard to get a fair quoted price. So I turn to you NS, in my time of need!

Here are the specs:

I dont have furniture. Only personal items like books and shit. I have something like 12 medium boxes with winter tires and skis (not worthy of stealing)

I rented a storage unit 5x5x7 and its not full, the weight of it all is under 1000kg

I need to go cheap. Pick up time is important since I want to go back to BC asap but delivery time is not important. Do you know anyone or any company that can help me? +karma for good suggestions (u haul is over 4,000$ by the way)

sorry i cant help you out, however, i will agree with you how sick of a ski town nelson is, and how fun whitewater is. not much for work there though.

Are you moving to nelson permanently? I just got rid of most of my shit when I moved out west from ontario. If it didnt fit in my car it didnt get brought.

have you go to a company like greyhound or fedex or UPS or even Canada Post and looked at freight ground shipping? I think a flat should only cost you like $400 or something, and from what it sounds like you don't have too much.

This should work. Where is your stuff/how far? I have sent my sister lots of stuff using greyhound (Ontario to BC) and I don't remember it being too pricey. You can also call moving companies to see if they have a semi-full truck going that way already, and they will add your stuff to the load. they almost always use the biggest available truck for this reason, and fill it along the route.

i sent my stuff via greyhound in a 2x2x2 cardboard box from van to toronto and it arrived fine.

I have been checking with semi trucks and they are not exactly reliable and they dont do storage. they also charge about 2,000-3,000$ to ship. Right now my stuff is in a Uhaul storage space and only I can get acess to the space. But, I am only going to be in Quebec for a few days, I will be passing through.

I checked with Uhaul shipping and its expensive as fuck. like 3000$ expensive. Greyhound has horrible service for fragile stuff and Post canada does not do freigt. I have yet to get a quote from Fedex.

Thanks for your advice. I am checking Uship.com now.
