What would you do for this set up? Two identical jumps, one to airbag, one to perfect landing + coaches for learning new tricks. That's pretty sick. Royalty treatment right there; I'm pretty jealous.

Looks like a weird airbag set up. I know it's built to simulate the jump beside it, i'd rather hit something that kicks you up, instead of shoot you out when it comes to airbags.

Nice for stepping it up Kaya, just no backflip X-crosses like those mogul skiers, get the grab!

Start dropping your shoulder after popping & find your underflip!

i think kaya gives girl skiing a good name.
i was super impressed with her when shooting for EDIAS at Skibowl and she progressed a ton since then.
redbull is the best energy drink sponsor for snow sports, hands down.

I think Kaya is the best face women's park skiing could have between her personality and ability. I think Red Bull is doing the right thing by doing making sessions like this for her. I think Red Bull is doing the wrong thing by putting these sessions on the internet.

Maybe I'm being sexist, but I feel like female skiers are just not motivated to try new stuff like male skiers are. I mean, there are fucking eleven year olds out there doing backflips, and they didn't need Red Bull to hold their hand while they did it.

Yeah maybe its the jump is on the bigger side to learn backflips but its maybe because she has do be able to do her tricks on bigger jumps since thats what she rides mostly.

It's great they are supporting her, and it's great that for some reason they think it's worthwhile. Also, Kaya is pretty decent skier, and really really sick for a girl.

However - What a GIANT waste of time, money, and resources. They built a jump for her to learn how to backflip? How about since it's your job to ski well, you go build a pow booter and sender like the rest of us?

Seriously, between water ramps, foam pits, tramps, and pow, this shouldn't be that hard. Red Bull just spent upwards of 5 grand (conservative) to teach her how to backflip. And then, they televised it, which is only serving to highlight what an absurd idea this was, and that Kaya can't do one of the simplest tricks out.

Jess Warhl (SP) did a dub backflip like two years ago now. Where's her redbull money? She taught herself.

That is the PERFECT setup for an airbag. I've always thought an airbag jump should be built identically to a regular jump in the park to lessen the difference when taking new tricks to the snow. It's crazy that no mountains have this setup.

A girl at New Zealand north island secondary schools backflip end and there where only a couple of girls who entered. Just go find a soft jump to try one they not hard

Im glad she actually did some other tricks on it, I would've been pretty shocked if she only did a backflip. Shit all you need is a super poppy wedge and a foot of pow and you can learn a backflip, I did that shit when i was 14.

I can probably name at least 10 girls I know that can do a backflip, and had to wait like four months from the end water ramps until they had a nice enough jump to do them.

I'm not hating, I'm just really surprised she couldn't do backflips before. It would be like a male pro skier saying he had never done a cork 9 or something.

Also the air bag is so sweet for progression. I mean doing a trick with little consequences, then next hit hitting a jump onto snow! Sure as hell beats the 4 month waiting period we had back in the day.

It is quite nice what they had setup for her but it was a little disappointing just for a backflip.

Out of the 3 girls I know that shred in the park :
1 can backflip, front flip, and 7s
1 can backflip, front flip, and cork 7s
1 (my sister on snowboard) tried a few backflips

So seriously I find if a bit exaggerated for just a backy...

I think it's because they don't need to to win. Is that offensive and wrong? I can't tell, but I know if I was skiing and knew I could win with a certain trick, I would find it a lot harder to progress faster. Look at triples, no one did one and now tons of people do. People didn't get better at skiing magically, they had to push themselves relative to the other competitors.

Olympics will do wonders for women's skiing. It will really up the stakes and get women pushing themselves to compete at an appropriate level.

2014 Olympics will look rather miserable though. The women in moguls will be throwing down more impressive hits on a small jump in the middle of a mogul field than they will be on a perfect 60 foot slopestyle jump.
