What park/allmountain ski should i get

I want to buy a new ski, and i dont know which one is the best for me. Up to now I had a Head mojo 80.
I'm 18 years old, 154 lb and 178 tall. I ride about 60% park, 30% all-mountain, 10% pow.
I ski in the alps so the ski work all-mountain.

I've searched for some skis to chose:
-Line Chronic 12/13 (my favourite up to now, but aren't they pretty heavy?)
-Atomic Punx 12/13
-Armada ARV 12/13
-Salomon Suspect 12/13

Which one would be the best for me?
And what bindings should i get? I think a Marker Griffon would be good. or better the Jester?

Considering that you do ride some pow, I'd consider the Line Blend, it's a little fatter so you can float, it's super buttery and from what I've heard it can carve as well.

i looked up the blend, but i think it's to wide for me. I don't ride pow so often, most off the time i am in the park. I prefer the chronic from the blend.

The liberty morphic looks nice, pretty similar to the chronic or the arv. But unfortunately, i haven't access to liberty skis around my place... :(

The morphic is unfortunately only in 181 and 186 available... Im 178, so they would be to tall for park riding

A say a toss between Chronics and ARV. I know old chronics did not have rocker. 12/13 do have them. ARV is full traditional camber. Comes down to what you want. Punx is pretty skinny. Would kill the park but tougher time in the powder. Suspects just plain suck. Lots of delaminating issues.

For bindings either one will work. If your progressing alot and cranking the din to 10 + plus get jesters. Other wise save some cash and get griffons.

ok, so the suspect doesn't seem to be good. The punx is too skinny and pretty soft i heard.
I'm tending to the chronics, but how heavy are they?
I skied the salomon 2012 last year, is this ski comparable to the chronics?
The arv looks nice, but they are pretty expensive, so i'd rather choose the chronics.

IMO the Armada ARVs are the best. they are wide enough to do well in the pow, but are also great on piste

Maybe the salomon twenty twelve or rocker2 92, have more rocker than most park skis but still narrow enough to throw around

What about the weight of the arv and the chronic. Are they heavy? I like to have some lighter ski, so how about that? I heard the chronic has less weight this year.

And if I buy the chronic, where should I mount the bindings? True Center? Or a bit back?
(As bindings, I will take the Marker Griffon)

Check out the armada el rey its a super nice ski in the park very stable rock it all over the mountain and works well in the pow. I have this as one of my skis and im very happy with it and its a very good price

I had suspects, they are the least durable skis I've ever ridden. The base material that they have is really soft or something, and they just get eaten up by everything. I filled holes every week. I hear great things about the ARV though.

Ok, so the suspect is definitively out. The punx too, because it's not very wide (bad for pow) and they have to much flex.
I'll check out the el rey. The arv is too expensive, they are like 900$ with a marker griffon, and I get the chronics with the griffon for 650$.

How tall should I take my skis? (I''m 178)
And where should I mount my bindings on the chronics? (Sorry, I have really no idea where to put them)

the chronics are soooo light and playful i demoed them last year and they are amazing i woulda got them but i got the k2 domains instead but the chroics are so light. they are one of the lightest skis line makes other then the mastermind deff get the chronics one of the best skis out there for park and all mountain

Thank you, I'm pretty certain that I'll take the chronic.

But I still have no idea where I should mount the bindings (marker griffon) and how tall I should take the ski. I'm 178 so should I take it in 171 or 178?

deff center mount them. your gunnna be in the park most of the time anyway so you will still have good snappy turns on the groomers. so i would deffinetly center mount them and get the 178 because you dont want them to be to small so get the 178 tell be perfect

If your height is 178 seriously consider 185. Line skis are usually on the short size. Im not sure what the chronic is actually but keep it in mind.
And it is a rockerd ski too. The 178 probably will feel like a 160 ski when riding on groomers.
I say if this is your one ski for the entire season, go 185 and you'll really like it alot more out of the park and especially in the pow. If this was a Park only ski, then you could go 178 but you using this every where it should like.
Sure with a 178 you could spin a little faster or maybe be a little more nimble in the park, but if your not going for massive spins (900s +) you won't notice it at all. And if your planning to hit Bigger jumps or features the added length will give better stability.
Im not sure where to mount but just PM the Line guys on here they can tell you where to mount the ski.

I have last years blends and they're a super fun ski, I rode them everywhere, park, pow, groomers.. they've held up awesome in the park for me, and have a nice swing weight. They're my go to ski unless there's a ton of fresh. I'd defiantly consider them.

Thank you very much for all your answers!
After all this positive posts about the chronic I'm pretty sure that the chronic will be the perfect ski for me. They sound really great!

So the chronic in 171 would be definitively to small for me. I'll probably take it in 178.
I have to think again about the mounting position. Are the skis still good enough for the slopes if I center mount them? Or should I better mount the bindings 1-2 centimeter (I'm from switzerland so that would be about 0.39 - 0.79 inches) behind the center?

Thank you, but the chronic sounds more like it would be good for me. The ski should be mostly for park and should also work on the slopes and in some pow. But park is the most important thing, so I prefer the chronic.

I thought about the chronic in 185 but I think they would be too tall.
I like it when my skis arent too tall so they turn easier, especially on the rails. On kickers, I mostly go for spins up to 540, sometimes also to 720. In the park, I ride about 60% kicker and 40% jibs, so jibbing is pretty important to me. The kickers I hit are normally about 20-60 feet, so not the biggest jumps :)

And most of the time, I'll be in the park (60%) and on the slopes (30%). I dont ski pow really often, just some easy tree runs and some pow turns near the slopes. So pow isnt that relevant like park.

How much is the chronic rockered? On the line page, they just call it "early rise", so I think they arent as much rockered as for example the salomon 2012, am I right?

One more question: How do I PM the Line guys? I'm new to this forum, so I dont know how to do it.

Hey, don't listen to him I have the 2013 and theyre chamber and they r amazing, go with a regular center mount (also thats what line suggests) if ur gunna be in the park. Also I'm 6 foot and got the 164 so theyre playful and still mountainy. Hope this helps

 Yes 2013 line chronics have camber (not chamber,that's where you throw prisoners) but they also have rocker in the tip and tail reducing the running length of the ski. This meaning the entire ski will not be on the surface making it feel shorter.
Also I never said the chronics were a bad choice I thought Op would enjoy a longer length in that ski but like Op stated after I posted, he wants more performance in the park which is fine if that is what he wants.
On a different note how do you ski on a 164 rockerd ski? Are you super light? Are you really 6ft? Or are kids these day really rocking that short of a ski in the park?

i am about the same height as you and i got the 185 chronic. the camber in the ski means that i had to upscale them to get a proper amount of edge on groomers but even at this length they are the most snappy and agile ski I have ever skied on.

So I have just been at my local shop and I asekd them about the chronic. The guy at the shop told me, that the Chronic wouldn't be good if I mostly skied the park.
He said: because the chronic has that early rise, the edges would have less contact with the ground and landings on kickers would become pretty difficult. So the chronic in 178 would feel like a ski in 150.

So he recommended the Armada Ar7, the suspect and the Scott Jib TW to me.
I'm a bit confused now, I have been pretty sure about the chronic but now I'm quite uncertain if the chronic is really that good for me...

What do you say about that?

Yes the chronic will feel short because of the rocker in the tip and tail. The 178 running length is actually 144. You can check it out on the line website.On larger jumps 20ft+ you will proably notice some washing out. If your on the rails most I say keep with the chronic. Maybe if your really worried jump up a size as the 185 running length is 151.

If your really into the jump sence and going big maybe somthing like the AR7 or Scott jib isnt a bad idea. Stay away from the suspects.

It does sound a little suspicous that he's recommending high end park skis, but if thats what your level is maybe go up to the next level of skis.

How about the ar7 and the jib tw in the pow? Is it even possible to get some real turns in the pow with them? And how do they work on the slopes?

I dont think that I need a high end park ski, because I also ski some pow and slopes...
And I wont go bigger than 720 and backflips/frontflips in the next years, so I dont need a ski which is good to land a double.

But how about that washing out of the chronic. Will I have problems if I for example do a 540 over a 40 ft kicker? And will that early rise be a problem while skiing on the slopes?

I dont the ar7 or jib would be any good in pow. you would be fine on the chronics for a 40 ft jump, there is not a lot of rocker.

I would look into the on3p jeronimo, can slay park pow and every thing in between. The chronic is a little more park oriented, and if you wanted to by line I would look into the blend, its really not to fat for park

dub post butt, that is a flat out lie, the chronic kill it in the park, and for your height, I would get a ski in the 180's. trust me, you will learn to love the length.

Thank you! I'm pretty park oriented, so I'd rather go for the chronic. The video helped too, they go bigger in this video than I will in the next few years.

I also saw that Roy Kittler used the Line Chronic for the Suzuki Nine Knights, so they even work for a big air comp.

So I've finally made my decission. I bougth the Line Chronic  12/13 with a Marker Griffon on it. I got the chronic in 178 and the bindings are mounted -2cm. I got them today and I have to say they look SO sick, the new design is really great!!

I'm skiing in laax this weekend so I'll see how they work in the snow!
